I Used to love this place, but the food and customer service has gone downhill a bit, the staff are just plain rude; hopefully we just had a bad day.
Pre-pandemic my wife, daughter, and I, liked to walk to Gail's to have breakfast. It's a bit of a ritual, I would normally get the scrambled eggs and she would get a really nice almond croissant, with coffee.
The issues with the food started when the almond croissant came, it was really burnt, and just didn't look as nice as usual. We raised it with the waitress and to be fair she was quite helpful. In short, they have changed the croissant and it's now part of their "Waste Saver'' range. Which basically means they take the unsold stale ones from the day before, slap some almonds on it and reheat it. It's just not as nice, and if I'm honest, a bit of a waste of money. The old version was fresh and also had a nice almond filling, the new variant does not have this. It's a "Waste Saver'' for them but a "Money Waster" for their customers. The waitress was nice and polite and did offer us a replacement or a refund.
The next issue was the eggs, I waited for around half an hour then went in to ask where they were. I did ask very politely if they could check where they were as I just thought they had been forgotten, to which I got a reply: "Yea, we're really busy, so it will take a long time". I mean, wow! I just wanted to know where the food was.
After I said I had been waiting for 30 mins she did go have a look for them and they were just being served up.
The thing is it's one of those places where they have tons of staff but don't seem to be very well organised, maybe they are just getting used to being open again.
My advice for improvements are: Send some of your staff to charm school. Bin in this waste-saver range. Bring back the...
Read moreGAIL's Bakery in Loughton promises a delightful escape into the world of artisanal baked goods, but my recent visits were tinged with frustration due to extensive waiting times. While the bakery boasts an inviting atmosphere and a tantalizing array of treats, the lengthy queues detracted from an otherwise enjoyable experience.
On two separate occasions, I eagerly entered GAIL's Bakery, enticed by the aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries, only to find myself confronted with a line that seemed to stretch endlessly.
Despite these shortcomings, it must be acknowledged that GAIL's Bakery excels in many areas. Their selection of artisanal bread, pastries, and cakes is undeniably impressive, showcasing a commitment to quality ingredients and expert craftsmanship. Additionally, the welcoming ambience and friendly staff contribute to a pleasant and inviting atmosphere, further enhancing the appeal of the bakery.
In conclusion, while GAIL's Bakery Loughton offers a tantalizing array of baked goods and a welcoming atmosphere, the issue of prolonged waiting times presents a significant obstacle to customer...
Read moreIt is modern, sleek, spacious, bright, vibrant, clean, tidy, huge and organised that they keep things running smoothly in store with high level of standards. The staff are friendly, responsive, efficient, knowledgeable, attentive, professional, sociable, respectful, helpful, kind, well mannered and good communicator that they are exact definition of great staff with top quality customer service skills that makes them stand out from the most bakery store. It is pricey for a food in the store which is let down. The food is mouthwatering, flavourful, delicious, tasty, fresh, well prepared, well presented, good to eat on the move, exquisite and flawless. I have been in this store and bought turkey club sandwich for £5.50 which was overpriced but they served with professionalism and with the smile which was best the experience in the bakery industry. Their food is far more better than other bakery that I have been to so far in...
