Authentic Thai Cuisine & Cozy Atmosphere!🇹🇭
Robin Hood Thai Restaurant offers a fantastic mix of authentic Thai flavours in a warm and inviting setting. Whether you’re a longtime Thai food lover or trying it for the first time, their menu strikes a great balance between classic dishes and unique new options.
We tried the Pad Thai, Red Thai Curry, Chicken Satay, Thai Fish Cakes, Beef Gatha Ron, Tom Yum Gung Soup, Masamang Beef Curry, and Som Tam, and each dish was expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and bold spices. The flavours were well-balanced—sweet, spicy, and savoury—making it feel like an authentic Thai dining experience.
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive, providing excellent service. From what I understand, this location was previously a pub before being transformed into a Thai restaurant, which gives it a unique charm, blending a relaxed pub-style setting with the warmth of Thai hospitality.
One small critique was the noise level. We were seated next to a particularly loud group, possibly celebrating an occasion, which made the atmosphere feel quite rowdy. We requested to be moved to a quieter area, but unfortunately, there weren’t many options. Perhaps, in the future, groups celebrating could be seated in a way that doesn’t disrupt other diners, ensuring everyone enjoys their experience equally.
Despite this, Robin Hood Thai Restaurant is a hidden gem in Epping, conveniently located at the roundabout, making it easy to find. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or a small gathering, it’s a great spot for high-quality Thai food in a laid-back setting.

Read moreBefore lockdown and for many years this used to be our favorite restaurant. The food was freshly cooked and the taste was very authentic with good ingredients. Since lockdown, things changed, and to our dismay, we kept going back thinking it's just a 'one-off' bad day, we have been five times now and each time we come out disappointed, to say the least, and sad.
I had to write this, so it may come as a wake-up call.
First, the portions are much smaller and if you order a takeaway the box will be just covering the base and not even near the halfway mark, secondly, the food is not freshly cooked, it tastes reheated, and instead of lovely vegetables, you have huge hunks of boiled potatoes, and very few cheaper vegetables.
The beef that my daughter ordered came slightly rare, but what was worrying is that the rare bits didn't have a pink color but were brown! not to mention it was too salty clearly to disguise the fact that it was dangerously old. My prawns were very few and clearly not hot enough, chewy, and reheated, other curry dishes came all tasting the same although they were different on the menu.
The overall taste is now all surgery and most lovely spices have either disappeared or are not present, sweat and sour is now 'ketchup and sour'.
Each time we pay a good amount of money (86£) and come out feeling robbed as we realize that this food didn't cost the owners more than £5, and after forking out a fortune we are still hungry and worried about what we ate.
What a huge shame considering what a restaurant it...
Read moreThai Restaurant based very close to High Beech in Loughton. Outside eating facilities exist but weren't used as it was winter.
It was quiet when we arrived but halfway through people started coming in and it filled up. Pleasant atmosphere and very good service from the waitresses.
For starters there was Tom Yum Soup, spring rolls and sweetcorn cakes. All were very tasty and well presented.
Main courses were Pad Thai, Green Curry and Phad Priew Wan Pak. Everything ordered was vegetarian and something Gluten free. They were attentive to our needs and very helpful.
All dishes were tasty and large. No one finished.
As for the decor, you walked through the bar area to the restaurant seating area at the back. There was some Thai style wallpaper and the chairs were comfortable. Otherwise, nothing memorable nor offensive either. Frankly, didn't really notice one way or the other.
I think this restaurant is owned by the same people as The Cock and Magpie in Epping Green and sports the same menu. Both are good.
In summer, would prefer the Epping Green one as the is a lovely outdoor play area for the kids. That being said, you walk across the road from the Robin Hood and you are in High Beech so whichever you prefer as the menus are the same.
Prices were reasonable considering the portion sizes. We...
