Blue Mint — Restaurant in Epsom and Ewell

UPDATED REVIEW: I'VE BEEN HERE MORE THAN A FEW TIMES NOW AND I DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL, SO I NEVER BRING ANYTHING WITH ME AND ASK FOR A GLASS OF TAP WATER...THE STAFF ARE TERRIBLE! THEY NEVER BRING THE WATER...WE HAD TO ASK 5 TIMES...ALL THEY CARE IS ABOUT OVERCHARGING ON THE SOFT DRINKS. IT'S A DISGRACE. IF YOU'RE A COUPLE OR WOMEN THOUGH YOU'RE SAFE...THEY BRING THE WATER IMMEDIATELY. :( WHAT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE THOUGH IS THAT THE WATER (WHEN IT EVENTUALLY ARRIVES) HAS SOME SORT OF SEDIMENT IN IT. WE MIGHT NEED TRADING STANDARDS TO HEAD DOWN THERE FOR A "CATCH UP"! I went here with some friends for the first time one Saturday eve as they had been there before and said they really enjoyed it the last time they were there, so I decided to join them on this occasion. As a starter I went for the prawn puri, which came nice and hot, and the spice was just right too, the prawns weren't overcooked and the sauce was tasty...I could of eaten another one! For my main I had a lamb tikka bhoona with pilau rice, and overall I was satisfied with my choice. A had a good amount of lamb, some bits softer than other, but the sauce was thick, tasty and full of veggies which I like! Only 3 stars as I've had more enjoyable curries elsewhere. Been here a few times and always order takeaway but yesterday was by far the worst. Came for Mother’s Day, our waiter was very rude, didn’t crack one smile and would come to us and say ‘yep’ when wanting to take our order instead of asking us what we would like. He seemed to be annoyed that we had only 6 main courses for 9 of us (3 were children that do not eat much and it’s not needed). A large soft drink was £4.95, the lamb tikka started was 4 pieces of tough lamb. When it came to paying, we used 3 different cards as there were many of us paying for ourselves and the waiter said more then once ‘service charge is not added’, when he walked back towards his colleagues he said loudly that we did not tip. This is a small and "personal touch" restaurant that truly delivers. The quality of Blue Mint's cuisine is amazing and never disappoints. We go there on special occasions as we know we're in for a treat. From their fish starters and mains to the hotter and spicier meat/chicken dishes. We booked again for this New Year's Eve. Eight of us came away thoroughly satisfied, from the level of service to their excellent food. Because the restaurant is somewhat compact/cosy I'd put it, don't be deterred. I opted for the chicken chat starter, followed by the chicken chilli fry. This is a hot & spicy option (set between vindaloo & Naga chilli in strength), but is just superb.
