Kanzzi stands out as a distinctive Japanese culinary haven, offering an unparalleled dining experience. As an avid connoisseur of fine cuisine (a foodie) throughout my life, I can assert with confidence that the oven-baked rolls, reminiscent of my cherished childhood flavours, definitely holds an irreplaceable status as my absolute favourites. These delectable dishes have become an indispensable part of my culinary repertoire, elevating every single visit to Kanzzi into a cherished occasion.
Each dining experience here is a poignant reminder of the honour and the privilege it is to indulge my palate in the culinary creations meticulously curated by the restaurant's visionary owner. Clearly renowned for their innovative and comforting menu selections, Kanzzi has undeniably set a new benchmark within the sushi industry, redefining expectations for excellence.
When visiting Kanzzi it is mandatory to pursue the exploration of culinary masterpieces such as the special rolls: Volcano roll and the Crispy Prawn roll, accompanied by the divine indulgence of matcha and chocolate crepe cakes. These signature dishes exemplify the culinary prowess that have become synonymous with this restaurant's name.
The exceptional service complements the dining seamlessly. The waitstaff, exuding warmth and courtesy, consistently uphold a standard of hospitality that goes beyond expectations. Their genuine smiles, gracefully concealing any traces of fatigue, contribute to an overall dining ambiance that is almost as inviting as the dishes themselves.
For those seeking an extraordinary dining experience characterized by warmth, balance, and harmonious flavours, Kanzzi emerges as the quintessential destination. It is not merely a restaurant; it is a culinary sanctuary where the art of gastronomy is elevated to...
Read moreFirst time at this restaurant, a casual dining experience which suited us as we had little ones with us. We didn't know how long it would take for us to arrive at the restaurant and we arrived slightly early..about 5 minutes before they actually opened but we were still greeted warmly.
We were sat down quickly and given menus. Foodwise, we ordered 2 seaweed salads (my favourite!), 2 yakitori, 2 grilled chicken ramen, an agadashi tofu, a torikaraage, a okonomiyaki, a black cod miso yaki, a prawn tempura roll, a bowl of rice, a salmon set, a chocolate crepe and a vanilla mochi. All very well executed and delicious. The chicken was grilled to perfection. The black cod was lovely and light and flakey, again perfectly cooked.
I am not entirely sure as never asked but I believe the chef and some of the staff are Koreans? ..Not that it matters as the cuisine they produced was better than a lot of Japanese restaurants we have eaten in (which incidentally are usually owned by koreans, nepalese or chinese...it is actually very rare to get Japanese owned japanese restaurants anywhere outside of the big cities in this country).
Service was efficient and friendly. If I was to be picky then I would say the restaurant has a lovely ambience, nicely spaced tables and seems mostly clean. The tables, we were on however, were quite sticky feeling. I know some cleaning products do leave a residue (I am hoping this was the case today anyway!) ... but a suggestion may be to change the cleaning product as there are many antibacterial cleaners nowadays which do not leave the table feeling tacky to touch (some people may be put off by this).
Overall, we left very satisfied and with a doggy bag (as always, we over ordered!). The bill came just under £180 for 2 adults and 3...
Read moreMy wife and I came for dinner tonight. We order a combination of sashimi, sushi and a couple of hot meals. All were quite nice, until I felt still a bit peckish and ordered a beef bulgogi ramen.
The ramen came with much soup in it and it seemed to have a good combination of ingredients. I gave most of the beef to my wife who does not want any more carbs. However, we had a couple of bites and agreed that it was too salty to finish it, even when we were sharing. I gestured the waitress and told her that this is too salty. She asked if i wanted some water... i said i'd like to send it back and have another portion freshly made. That went back.
When it came back, same liquidish look and it tasted pretty much the same as before, even when the waitress told us they would re-make the stock. My wife does not want to send it back again so she persuaded me to just eat it. Half way through, I realised that there wasnt much beef bulgogi in the dish (not because i had eaten it), nor any other ingredients like mushrooms. At that point, i felt cheated as it looked likely that this was just a reheated version of what i sent back, now with more water and without the beef my wife had in a separate bowl...
It happens when dishes are not up to customers' expectation occasionally, but making one feels cheated at what could have been a happy meal just detered me from...
