Hello friend's, to write a personal review on the Warren is quite a difficult task because you first and foremost are dealing with a chain of Pub/restaurants not the lovely, personable independent local Pub/restaurants as in my previous reviews. It is what it is, a busy Public House situated in the Market Place, on the main drag for the other Public Houses. The interior in my view is at best described as 'drab' the are no aires or graces, if you receive a 'please' or 'thank you' count yourself highly favoured indeed. The 'food' sadly is at best described as 'functional' it does, indeed 'fill a hole', what with though I'm not too sure. The Warren's one redeeming feature in my opinion is that it is directly adjacent to the Scala Cinima, so if you arrive early for the films' shewing, you could always take 14 steps over the road to the Sir John Warren and have a beverage and/or a light snack with a heavy cost. If I were to sum up the Sir John Warren, Ilkeston, in 3 words they would be: FUNCTIONAL, FRUGAL and FABRICATED. I hope that you find this review useful. I must add that the majority of the Staff do work incredibly hard dealing with those who are less than salubrious, and are always on their feet. So just to recap the Sir John Warren in my view is: FUNCTIONAL, FRUGAL and...
Read moreAs part of Ilkestons U3a. We have on several occasions, used their upstairs function room. For our German group. It's a large room with plenty of seating and tables. We can use the room free of charge. Plus at break time you can get a hot drink plus a cake for £2.50. They have a range of coffees. From flat white, that's a normal coffee to you & me. Espresso, cappuccinos etc. Pots of tea or a cold drink if you fancy. If you're looking for a room, great space. But there is quite a few stairs to climb and no banister rail. They have parties there also. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The downstairs is well set out. There is seating if you're there to eat. Seating at the Bar and of course there's places for a quieter get together. You can watch sport have a catch up with friends or have a meal. This places is suitable for everyone. There is an outside courtyard. Also a large car park, just across the street. It's pay and display unless you have...

Recently tried to give it another go. Lights around the dart board didn’t work and the board clearly not replaced since the refurb (which was nice).
Pool cues in tatters.
£1:50 for a game of pool, I mean, come on?
45p if you want a splash of lime or blackcurrant in your drink. Prices of pints are beyond off putting. Especially when the pub opposite is literally pounds cheaper for the sake drinks, why?
On the rare occasion that it’s busy in the Warren now, you can guarantee there won’t be enough staff on. Other local pubs manage to do this just fine. Perhaps the management company don’t want to pay for sufficient staff and maintenance.
Quality of the beer is poor and sometimes the spirits seem watered down. That’s purely my opinion though although everything else is factual.
Most of us choose to walk on by these days. P.s none of this is directed at staff this seems to be a higher...
