The Rose and Poppy — Restaurant in Fareham

My sister and I went for afternoon tea to celebrate our birthdays. Unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. Firstly I must say the little sandwiches we’re delicious, freshly made and came with some salad ✅ after that things took a downward turn. The tiny stale scones were as hard as rock, we could hardly get a knife through them, they were more like crunchy biscuits, I’ve never experienced scones like it. Next a slice of carrot cake that was dry and topped with butter icing instead of the usual cream cheese frosting. When we complained they said they wouldn’t charge for our last pot of tea, which was quoted on their menu as “bottomless pots of breakfast tea”. In the end they deducted 10% off the bill which was £36.95 for two. So all in all not the delicious afternoon tea that we were expecting from this small village...

My mum and step dad have been here a couple of times before. So they took myself and my 2.5 year old little girl. The service was great, we changed a few things on our order which they had no issue with accommodating. Food was quick and very nice, good quality food and my daughter actually ate the sausage for the first time without spitting it at me! They had child friendly plates, cups and even cutlery which I’ve never experienced before. I then took my daughter to the toilet, to which she was so excited when she found a step meaning she could wash her hands independently! This was one of the nicest experiences I’ve had out with my daughter for a while:) the owners have really taken to detail and I imagine must have children due to the little things that made such a big...

We went for breakfast a few months ago and it was so wonderful we knew we had to go back when I had another, very rare, day off. I look after dogs and hardly ever get to out. I had one dog this particular weekend, so decided to take the dog with us. Unfortunately, they were not serving breakfast that morning. I was gutted! I understood why, but I don't think I hid my disappointment very well. I think Sam took pity on me, so her amazing husband fired up the kitchen and made myself and my partner breakfast. I can't recall any one ever doing something that nice for me! Now I feel everyone needs to know how wonderful this place, and the owners and staff are. Great food, fantastic service and amazing people....
