The Crofton — Restaurant in Fareham

Took the family of 8 to the Crofton, We called ahead and was given a late afternoon appointment which they seemed to like as most of the sunday lunchers go early afternoon. After 15 mins of studying the menu and specials & 5 mins of queueing I ordered. I was told that there was no more roast beef so went back to the table to get the new order

i returned and ordered Lasagne replacements, I was told these were no longer on the menu, Sold out!. Once again returned to the table only to be told upon my return to the order station that all roasts are now off. So what have you got then??? The meal went on from there. the poor waitress that was taking our order left in a fit of tears after coming back out of the kitchen. At no point were we impolite or rude. I spoke to the Manager to ask why this had happened and as to why the special board had not been chalked through and to ensure that the manager knew that the poor girl was up against it with no food to offer (she had been let down by Manager and kitchen) . Her reply was we are too busy and told me that she had squeezed us in as they are so busy. (had we been told this then we would have had an option to not go there)

Shortly after 2 bottles of Red were plonked on the table with an empty apology. Shame as we were drinking pints and the kids were on cola.

I have been here many times over the last 15 years and had good value for money, always been able to get a good meal and never before had any real issues. All i can say is that the usual chap behind the bar was nowhere to be seen and i am sure he would have handled it much better had he been on shift. would be 1 star but as this is the first time i have been upset there I feel this is more than fair on...

The area where we were sitting was NEVER checked by waiters/waitresses. They gave our order to a different table, as a result, marked our order as "out and complete" but never noticed that we were waiting a long time until we checked with them 40 minutes later. Food came to us in another 15 minutes, but they weren't very apologetic at all. The "sorry" sounded very artificial, just made us feel like they were saying "you just have to bear with us as things like this happen." We were starving and they didn't even offer any nibbles or starter after they knew we had been wanting for 40 minutes already. We went out with my husband's 86 year old grandmum. We were very concerned about her eating so late. After all this, no one even came back to check with us about food at all, and at the end, we even had to ask for the empty plates to be taken away after sitting with them for ages. Portion was good but roast beef had no taste "at all," had to season it ourselves with salt. It must be either in the freezer too long or they didn't bother to season it at all. In general, our experience was extremely bad this time at the Crofton. Their outward faces and voices were friendly enough but the inward attitude in customer service is extremely poor. We would have communicated our frustration with their management if it's not for my husband's grandmum didn't want us to. She wanted to be polite which we understand. But since we felt that no one there really cares anyway, perhaps it was right that we didn't say anything, left quietly and just make sure that we never...

Our wedding reception held at The Crofton was a complete and utter success and alot of our guests said they've never been to such a lovely wedding and reception! Myself and my husband had the BEST day! Mel and her team looked after us from day one with great communication , help, advice and planning and our reception ran smoothly like clockwork. We found the room an ideal size for our guests of 50 people The food was marvellous and our guests (who are mostly foodies!) really enjoyed our wedding breakfast of home cooked tasty food with lots of choice and options for veggies and vegans . We chose the wedding package which was excellent value per head and included the room hire, use of sound system with our own music skittles, welcome fizz, wine with our main and toast fizz and a three course meal with very reasonable add ons for wedding buffet and welcome canapes (which were delicious I may add! ) also linens some decorations and bar staff! Mel and her team are clearly very experienced in hospitality and weddings as everything ran smoothly and to our wishes. We cannot thank The Crofton team enough for such a wonderful day !...
