Very busy pub atmosphere. Find a table, remember table number, order at bar, pay for each part ordered. Staff deliver food to table. Drinks - hot and refillables - see below. Alcohol served also at same till.
Met a good friend for lunch.
Quite a wait in cue at bar to order food and drinks. Went during busy lunchtime. Never been before. Empty cups given when hot or cold drinks ordered and paid for at bar. Guess what, need to get own cutlery and sauces from a place still unknown to me as staff server retrieved for us.
After waiting an absolute age to place order to start with, have to join separate cue, totally different place for drinks and self serve through complex machinery. Maybe this could be improved by having staff member assistance at that point as two long cues quite frustrating especially if only want a drink, or revisiting for additional dessert. My experience we cued 6 times, twice for two hot drinks, 3 times for hot food, Starter/ Mains / Desserts. Easily at busy times takes up at 15- 20mins each time, is 90 mins to 2 hrs just to cue. Milk also ran out at hot drink section. Being self serve it looked a mess, bits of rubbish from packets and spillages.
If attending as solo diner, high probability that the table once found as vacant, before starting to cue at bar (to place selected food / drink order), could also be seen by new guests arriving and taken again by the time first customer returns to that spot !!
No way of marking the table as still vacant, or pending due to need to visit bar cues, or even go bathroom. Could this be improved? Maybe tags or large spoons on each table, so if cueing, locator cant be used again if elsewhere in process.
Bar drinks and food combined ordering via 1 till (on the day I visited), so bar staff extremely busy trying to cope. Cue at times I felt encroched spacially, on individuals occupying tables nearest bar area. All that being said, organisationonally, system lets you down, customer experience with ordering could be streemlined.
Staff there coped very well, were amazing, in their attitudes and service.
Food was totally delicious, lots of varied menu choices. Food hot, servers x 1 and manager fast. Admired their plate handling skills. Well done for managing very busy customer period. Will definately visit again.
Take a friend, as they aid by holding table until return from short holiday...
Read moreHave been before and generally it's ok, it's a Wetherspoons so you know what you're going to get. Today was very disappointing. It was busy which is usual on a Saturday lunchtime but it was obvious the current staff couldn't cope, dirty plates and glasses were piled up on tables where customers had moved them to clear a table. Tables were dirty. The guy that was serving in our area was miserable, huffing and puffing. Another table asked for their table to be cleared and wiped when he brought their food and he wasn't happy, grabbing glasses and banging them onto one of the tables piled high breaking a glass in the process. When he brought our food I asked if he could wipe the table, he muttered something then proceeded to grab all the glasses on the table one of which was my drink. When I pointed out it was mine he put it back down, however he had picked it up with his fingers inside the glass, so I said I didn't want it after his fingers had been in it. He stomped off and came back with a fresh drink but we never got the table wiped. The food was standard but not hot and took about an hour to arrive. A good portion of the menu was out of stock. Not a...
Read more1* is actually a little too generous for my experience. I came here with my work colleague today for a business catch up. Ordered lunch to the table, for a young man come and request my ID regarding my energy drink which was ordered. Usually I'd shrug this off, as for a 25 year old I do get asked for this on occasion when buying alcohol. However, instead of just requesting my ID to confirm I'm of age (for an energy drink), he stated I do not look old enough and do not look 16 and will not be served until ID is given. He was incredibly rude, patronising and somewhat insulting. Regardless I showed him my ID and thought that was the end of it. Then another lady shortly after comes to the table to explain why I was ID'd, as I explained it was more the way it was handled by the lad beforehand that was the issue. Thought all was resolved at this point and had forgotten about it. However, my colleague, the one who was not even ID'd was told she would no longer be served here today and that nothing else could be ordered. Penalised for myself getting ID'd when I clearly look much older than 16. Absolutely outrageous. One of the most patronising and ridiculous...
