Folkestone fish shack — Restaurant in Folkestone and Hythe District

I have had two experiences with The Fish Shack, each vastly different from the other.

Yesterday, when I ordered cod and chips (£70+) for the family, we were served what was quite possibly the best fish and chips we have ever tasted. Every mouthful was sheer delight, as if prepared by a Michelin star chef. The chips were perfectly crispy and crunchy, and the cod was cooked to absolute perfection. We couldn’t believe how amazing it was.

Today, eager to repeat the experience, some of the family and I drove down there again and placed the same order of cod and chips (£41). After waiting what seemed like an eternity, our excitement was palpable as we anticipated another wonderful meal. However, when we finally collected our orders and sat down to eat, we were shocked and disappointed. The cod was an oily mess, and the chips looked like they had come straight from the frozen section of Poundland. I cannot comprehend how the quality could deteriorate so drastically in just 24 hours. It was utterly abysmal, and we felt completely scammed.

In summary, Thursday was phenomenal, but Friday was grossly disgusting. I certainly won’t be returning...

What an amazing experience! I patiently waited an hour as these workers were working in extreme heat and understandably needed to take a break. I witnessed people getting stressed because they were not getting their food when they wanted it! Please remember, these workers are working in not only the amazing temperatures we are experiencing but the added heat of the fryers etc to deliver this wonderful food! Served with a smile, and food cooked to perfection! Honestly people need to chill!!! You may be hungry but take a minute to think about the conditions these workers are working in!! Awful food, fish & chips were fried to an inch of their life! Everything was so hard & over-cooked, the chips were solid rock hard & the fish batter so rock hard it literally cut into the inside of my cheek. The dark haired lady was really rude & nasty when I went to check if my order was ready - it had been more than 15mins & they didn’t have any customers waiting before I ordered so what were they doing?
