Oli & Joe's Whickham — Restaurant in Gateshead

Our experience at Oli and Joe’s Whickham greatly exceeded our expectations. We were a party of 10, having booked lunch following a funeral, and the servers looking after us were amazing. Their friendly, efficient service made us feel very welcome, which is particularly commendable given the circumstances and the size of our group.

The food was top quality, with even one of our Italian party members praising its authenticity and taste. This is no small feat and speaks volumes about the culinary expertise at Oli and Joe’s.

Given that Whickham is blessed with independent food retailers that I much prefer over supermarkets, combining a lunch at Oli and Joe’s with some shopping makes for a perfect outing. I came in last night with my Mam and sister like I have done many times before. I am in a wheelchair and the waitress and tall waiter were first class and I ordered the chicken with pepper sauce like I have done every other time I’ve been in because it’s so nice but this time my chicken was tough like it had been cooked very quickly in microwave and oven and I’m not a complainer it’s just I was a chef and no bad chefs do cook like that, both my Mam and sister said there meals didn’t taste very nice either. Visited the Whickham restaurant for the first time today. I had the lunchtime special - various starters to choose from (I had the bruschetta), any pizza or pasta with a few exceptions (tagliatelle carbonara for me), and then either ice cream or coffee (coffee as I couldn’t manage ice cream). It was lovely and amazing value for money. Only £5.50 for my three courses! You can’t even get a starter for that where I live in the south east! Everyone I was with was impressed and we all had three courses, two chose from the regular menu and had fillet and rib eye steaks and it came to £76. Unbelievable for what we had.
