as a regular office based 9-to-5er, i rarely get the opportunity to visit, so when i had the chance to work from home, i knew i had to go and i was not disappointed. the person who was working was friendly and upbeat for a drizzly, grey afternoon and served me a carrot cake, a cinnamon bun and a latte with a cheery disposition. bonus points for the soft lo-fi tunes in the background, if i wasn't late going back to work, i would have totally sat on the outdoor seating and chilled. i'm not the biggest coffee-without-sugar drinker but the taste was lovely and melded well with the oat milk that comes as a standard (which is another plus for me). i wasn't the biggest fan of the cinnamon stodge but in all fairness, i visited nearing closing time so may not have been the freshest and i would have loved a thick, sweet glaze to compliment the bun, seeing as it wasn't overly sweet. the carrot cake took centre stage, but that may be my carrot cake bias- it was fluffy and dense in a really good way; alike to how a seeded loaf is dense, with a slight citrusy note, topped with a creamy icing that pulled everything together! what a nice, little place, tucked in the heart of...

Specialty coffee ( I mean, really superb coffee) in the midst of beautiful Saltwell Park, Gateshead - lush trees, fresh air - what else could I ask more for?

Prism Coffee has a story to tell - Daniel, a technician in Apple for 8 years, decided to pursue this dream of his for a specialty coffee shop, a bakery of his craft, after the birth of his daughter. Everything here screams of him being a perfectionist - from the milk pairings (an amazing Oat Milk Coffee! I didn’t realise how delicious it could be till today!), to his homemade freshly baked savoury pastries (gosh I had the Black Pudding Sausage Roll , just out of the world), to the beautiful design of this spot facing the lake. Just heavenly.

I recommend that you speak to Daniel - ask him, why oat milk only - like, won’t you lose revenue? Why this spot in Gateshead? Why this or that? Everything to the smallest detail is intentional here. It is authentically him, genuinely wanting his best experience he could give for customers.

Again, another gem that must be mentioned. 101% recommended. I will be back often, for the fresh air for Baby Ru, the lovely vibes, and that amazing...

Long overdue to write a review of this amazing place!

I moved to the area a year ago and so happy to have this place right on my doorstep. The owner is so passionate about coffee and the other products they sell and it really shows! The best flat white either side of the water, so much so that I visit at least one lace a week. Accompanied by fresh baked pastries. All the staff are super friendly and easy to chat to and amazing at their jobs.

With a great selection of coffee equipment, sustainable cleaning and self care products, as well as a range of dog treats.

If you love coffee, cake and lovely people this is definitely the place for you!

To further praise the staff on the off chance they witnessed or heard what happened this morning; or if the gentleman responsible sees this. It is absolutely disgusting the way you reacted to the idea that the singular member of staff working have the audacity to take 30 whole minutes for a lunch break, provoked you to such anger that you were shouting and swearing. It was just embarrassing. The staff are all amazing, can’t fault them at all, I hope you enjoyed your well deserved...

Loved the feel of this independent coffee shop. Located inside a beautiful historical park, Prism is a coffee shop with a difference: eco-conscious and plant-based that sells a range of drinks, savouries and cakes which actually taste fantastic! I noticed a lot of their food is made by 'Grain & Goodness', a local independent that trades in markets. All of the seating is outdoors but the surroundings and chilled vibe is compelling enough for me to want to go back very soon.
