The french oven bakery — Restaurant in Gateshead

First of all, I already posted this from my Facebook profile. In fact, I also gave this place a review with my account and it seems that the owner deleted it. Hopefully this won't be the case with my online review. Yesterday (May 7th, 2019) I went to Grainger Market. I was already in a hurry and I thought of buying myself something to eat on my way to my 2 PM lecture. I had already seen the pastries from The French Oven bakery and thought of buying myself one. After all, I had enough money to buy not only one, but two! (keep in mind that their pastries are not that cheap but I was already starving). I waited on the counter for the woman on the store to end her conversation with a guy (not an employee) who was there talking to her. Once he left, she saw me but kept walking away to the back of the store and to continue doing her own business. I said "Hello" in a loud voice to catch her attention. She and her coworker laughed, whispered something between them and then looked at me. The guy took his time to get to the counter and, on a snarky tone, asked me "What do you want?". After noticing that, I simply told them "I want nothing, thanks!". This guy simply yelled at me "Love you, bye!" with sarcasm. I don't know if it's because I'm a student or because I don't look like a local, whatever they might have thought, but I definitely had the way to buy their product. I share thought this post my rating because just for the way they treated me, I think that if other students or tourists from Mexico want to buy something (and even other countries), there might be a chance that the employees will simply ignore you. I don't know if it's because I really don't look like a local but there might be a chance that was the reason. I'm sorry to post this but I think is relevant so you avoid making a consumption on a place in which people might not be respected.

Update (May 8th, 2019): Today I send a private message to the owner of the bakery because he/she possibly deleted my review in order for the business not to get affected. There might be a chance that I share my interactions with this person here simple because for what I can see, they think that I'm inventing this story, but I will do it if I don't see that any action is being taken (and by that I don't mean any discounts or free stuff, to be realistic I won't consume their product even if they gave it to me, I only want an apology).

Update (July 3rd, 2019): I added the pictures from the Facebook conversation. I covered my identity and the owner's too due to respect. Still, until this day, I haven't received one apology and it's been almost two months. Don't buy any bread here, if they don't care about one person, they definitely don't care about their...

Absolutely incredible

I ordered 3 of the afternoon tea for 1 to surprise my grandparents and we were more than impressed by the quality of the food that was delivered.

It's is very much worth the price and I certainly would recommend them.

There was a selection of four sandwiches either a quiche or a pie, some sausage rolls, mini scones (these were incredible) and a box of four delicious cakes. Each box was different but all were as delicious as each other. I really would recommend eating from here.

The only very slight downside was that we don't know an eta other than between 10am and 6pm. But this wasn't enough of an issue to knock it down...

We ordered afternoon tea they advertised a lovely one. £10 per person. When it arrived it seemed to be missing alot the scones are very small and the sandwiches plain and squashed. So I complained asked for a refund the owner pointed out that i did not read the small print that stated they would select an amount to give us although it did not say how much. She seemed to have a bad attitude she would not comprise in anway. Will not be going there again!!! Over priced would and have done it...
