On Northgate Street in Gloucester a few paces from the center of the city where the Roman North, South, East & Westgate streets cross. They have a good selection of coffee shop fayre. On my last visit I had a toasted tea cake that was about 170MM in diameter! Great with the coffee. There's lots of seating & when open, there's an upstairs area too. We were close enough to the window to watch the world go passed on the street. Opposite the coffee shop is "The Jet Age" statue of a man stood covering his ears - because the tapering cylinder he's stood on is a jet engine, which was invented & first built in Gloucester. Don't be put off, advance and be surprised by the conviently placed wheelchair ramp that you didn't notice as your eyes adjusted to the gloom. Gradually, familiar shapes and the smell of coffee draw you to the counter. Sandwiches, rolls and baguettes. Cake with posh names, Danish pastries and COFFEE! It's what you came for.
