As someone who enjoys exploring various bars and pubs in Gloucester, my recent experience at The Fountain Inn was nothing short of a letdown. From the moment I stepped in, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of disappointment.
First and foremost, the atmosphere was lackluster and depressing. The lighting was so dim that it felt like they were trying to hide something. The decor was outdated, and it seemed like the place hadn't seen a makeover since the '80s. The entire ambiance screamed "dingy dive bar" rather than a lively and welcoming pub.
The staff's attitude didn't do anything to redeem the place either. It was as if they had no interest in serving customers or even cracking a smile. The barmaids seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than attending to the patrons. Waiting for a drink felt like an eternity, and when it finally arrived, it was mediocre at best.
Speaking of drinks, the selection was severely underwhelming. If you're hoping for a wide variety of craft beers or inventive cocktails, you'd be sorely disappointed. The Fountain Inn seemed content with offering the most basic and generic drink choices, which hardly catered to those looking for something new or exciting.
Now, let's talk about the prices. For such a lackluster experience, you'd expect reasonable prices to compensate for the mediocrity. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case at all. The drinks were exorbitantly priced, leaving me feeling like I was being taken advantage of as a customer.
One would think that even if the atmosphere, staff, and drinks were subpar, the food could save the day. But no, The Fountain Inn managed to disappoint on this front as well. The food selection was limited, and what I did try was nothing more than mediocre bar food โ greasy and unappetizing.
To top it all off, the place felt unsanitary. The tables were sticky, and I couldn't help but question when they had last been cleaned thoroughly. The restrooms were in terrible condition and definitely not a place you'd want to spend any longer than necessary.
In conclusion, my visit to The Fountain Inn in Gloucester was an absolute disaster. From the unappealing ambiance to the apathetic staff, overpriced drinks, unimpressive food, and lack of cleanliness, I can't find a single redeeming quality about this establishment. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for a more enjoyable bar experience in Gloucester.
To be fair the band was the amazing and welcoming to my arrival ๐ only thing good about...

Pre-ordered food and have to say they were busy but got food out exactly as ordered and nice and hot and no one had to wait was brilliant service and food and no complaints.. We went in tonight 06/07/2023 and found that girl serving behind bar not as friendly and welcoming as the other staff. We went to sit outside but discovered nice little comfortable inside seating area with comfortable sofas and couple tables to eat at. Was really nice and relaxing this is situated out door and through courtyard. Went for Dinner here I'm disappointed that they only one option for fruity cider still and specials board same as few months ago. The staff are still friendly and welcoming and nice to see just as busy. I asked for soft peas and they came out like bullets, but rest of the meal was nice.. Not been here for a while and decided to eat. I found that it's not same standard. Also why is girl serving with hair not tied up. Don't seem as chatty...
ย ย ย Read moreTwo of us dined after experiencing a wonderful meal earlier in the year. I ordered a chicken burger with no salad, just fries. I informed the gentleman taking the order that i cannot eat salad but he told me that it was a small salad garnish and to just leave it on the side of the plate. When my food arrived the plate contained a huge mound of salad covering three quarters of the plate. The five people on the next table complained that they had the same problem yet they had specifically requested no salad at all. When I went to pay the bill, the same person who had taken my order asked me how the meal was and I told him that it was so-so. When he pressed me on this I told him that I had been given too much salad. To my amazement he told me that this was just my opinion and nobody else ever complained. When I told him the five people on the next table to us had the same complaint he told me that again this was my opinion. He then turned his back and ignored me. I accept my wife and myself are just two customers but the extremely rude and dismissive attitude from this gentleman did not go unnoticed and three patrons at another nearby table commented on such unwarranted behaviour. This was a shame as we drove 27 miles to Gloucester to have lunch at the Fountain Inn. Suffice to say we will not...
