Hands down, the best Indian restaurant in Gloucester—seriously tasty and wholesome.
Other places I've tried over the years always seem to lack a 'richness', for want of a better phrase... or, always let themselves down on something basic—not here, genuinely perfect every time I've ordered—you can taste the passion and dedication in every bite.
Poppadoms; always crisp and fresh, perfectly seasoned.
Salad; the little bag, that some takeaways have done away with—love, love, love it... a much appreciated, traditional touch. Along with the small tub of chopped onion, both are great accompanied by poppadom and mint sauce/raita, to make a fresh ‘pre-appetiser’ while plating up/before bhajis.
Naan; a plain naan for me—always fresh and well-cooked, in it’s cute naan-bag.
Curries; generally a vindaloo—so perfect. Rich and full of flavour; plenty of very tender chicken pieces, along with some potato (aware of debate as to whether potato belongs in a vindaloo; I think it does—some places 'skimp' on chicken when including potato, not here however!).
Delivery and packaging; has always arrived on time or slightly early when ordering for delivery, and always bang-on when collecting. Packaging—an odd thing to review, but really appreciate the aluminium containers... so many places have switched to plastic—the aluminium ones are much easier to wash and reuse (great for use in an air fryer!)/recycle.
Have eaten in the restaurant also—service is top notch; perfectly attentive, but without distracting you from your meal/conversation, a really comfortable atmosphere.
They’re not on Just Eat/Deliveroo/Uber Eats… likely with reason; they still (in 2025) offer supreme value for money—their online ordering platform (ChefOnline) is much more user-friendly than any of the mainstream solutions I’ve used previously.
Always recommending this place; nothing better than decent, hot, spicy curry after a long week—did you know; spicy food releases endorphins, which...
Read moreMyself and 2 others shared 2 dishes from this establishment (chicken passanda & chicken rogan josh). Within 2 hours of finishing one of us violently vomitted it all up. During the night the remaining 2 (my wife and I) woke with acute stomach pains, both rushing to the toilet with extreme diarrhoea. By mid afternoon my wife was still having diarrhoea whilst I had now started to violently vomit whilst having diarrhoea - not a nice experience. Whilst my wife was slowly recovering I was deteriorating, unable to hold down sips of water or anything. I managed to get an out of hours appointment at Gloucester Royal who suspected salmonella from food poisoning. After forcing liquids into me via a drip, 3 days later and time off work I'm now more or less recovered.

Read moreWhat an excellent place to eat. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, who made sure we were comfortable and knew what we were doing.
And the food… the portions are generous (we came home with leftovers and we never come home with leftovers!!!!), the sauces that went with the poppadoms alone were a treat. I had the chicken korma which was smooth and sooo tasty and the pashwari naan bread which was the absolute highlight for me - so well made and tasty.
Then the bill came.. and it was so competitively priced for the quality of food and service.
We’ve lived in the area for almost 2 years and now our biggest regret is not trying this...
