I was really keen on visiting Llanthony Secunda after having previously seen the original Llanthony Priory in Monmouthshire. The history of the site is fascinating. However, it is rather strange that it backs on to a college and students pass through the ruins every day on their way to class. There are some additional buildings with information about site but I didn’t have time to stop by, unfortunately. The grounds are well maintained and there are some picturesque gardens and the docks themselves are worth a visit. I can’t say much about the ruins themselves, it is always fascinating to see something so ancient and there are plaques that explain the history. I personally think that I prefer the original however, due to it’s mystical tranquility and the relatively more substantial nature of its ruins.

Amazing event at the Priory today. The Gaia 7 metre diameter sculpture by Luke Jerram depicting planet earth and another one inside the Henry Dene Hall which is viewed in darkness reminds us of the beauty of our planet and our need to take care of it. Awesome!

We booked the Priory for our wedding reception and from the first email through to the big day, Charlie was fantastic. The site is beautiful and really suited our autumn theme. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding venue!

Booking our wedding venue with Charlie & the team at Llanthony Secunda Priory was one of the first and best things we did for our wedding! all of the team were amazing on the day and the support throughout the year prior answering our questions and providing us with some excellent info to make our dream day a reality. Could not recommend Llanthony enough for a fantastic wedding venue. The venue itself is tucked away in a lovely part of Gloucester all our guests were blown away with how lovely and spacious it was for a central city location. Amazing team, amazing venue,...

We stayed in a nearby hotel and came to walk around to find out more about the priory, assuming that we would spend not more than 10 min there. It happened that we bumped into Jay, who works there. We've learned so much from him about the priory, the history, the life of monks, etc, etc. It was a great experience. We were so-so lucky meeting him. Our advice for other visitors - try to book a guided tour, otherwise it will be just another building, religious place but the real story of it is fascinating! If we have a wedding in mind, we will certainly book it...
