What an utterly charming and friendly owner! From the moment we set foot inside, even though he was in the middle of serving another customer, we were made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The service was first class. This was a trip down "Memory" Lane for me, as I was born and brought up in the nearby Langholme Drive and actually used to work in the very premises of the cafe, in the late 70's early 80's, when it was John Panel's newsagents. Hadn't been back to York in a long while but our visit to "Bite and Basket" made a very welcome rest spot during our nostalgic motorbike tour of the area.
