disappointing experience at the ainsty, a warning to others who might be considering visiting the ainsty. unfortunately, my experiences and those of my friends and family have been consistently disappointing. the staff, particularly one lady, seems to have a very different attitude towards younger patrons. on multiple occasions, we've witnessed behavior from this staff member that we've found to be unacceptable. she's been known to speak harshly to younger customers, and some of my friends have even reported being grabbed by her, which they found to be quite alarming. while we understand that pub staff have a tough job managing crowds and ensuring everyone has a good time, the behavior we've experienced and witnessed has been over the top. my friends and family have told me that they've had similar negative experiences with this staff member in the past, and they've even mentioned that she's known for being particularly harsh towards younger people. given these experiences, i would advise younger patrons to think twice before visiting the ainsty. we've had better experiences at other pubs in the area, and i think it's worth exploring other options. if the ainsty were to address these issues and work on improving their customer service, i'd be happy to reconsider my rating and give them another chance. however, until then, i'm afraid i'll have to recommend that people look elsewhere for a more...
Read moreBooked for Christmas Day Dinner 25/12/2024 for 5 adults and 1 child, 3 of which travelled over an hour to be there, unfortunately we were all disappointed by the meals served. The burger for the child was burnt and the bread bun was hard, turkey was dry, steaks weren't cooked as asked, they were all done the same, well done so no taste to them. Vegetables and yorkshire puddings were frozen not fresh and the mash was the stuff you make with water. Starters were ok, desserts again didn't get what we ordered, no Christmas pudding, chocolate fondue pudding without fresh raspberries, the cheese on the cheeseboard platter tasted stale and the berries on the cheesecake were mush and the coffee, tea and mince pies to finish we never received. From start to finish it seemed that there was no organisation, we waited ages in between getting our next course of food and 4 times had to clarify our dessert choices that they still never got right. We were not the only guests that had issues, a few other parties didn't receive certain foods that they ordered or they had items missing from their dinner or they got wrong dishes served to them. Given that this was the first time visiting the Ainsty I'm sorry to say that it hasn't inspired me to book for food again especially at such a special time of the year. On a plus side the young girl serving drinks behind the bar was...
Read moreWent on a works meal. I was the only vegan, wasn't expecting much, so wasn't disappointed by lack of choice: vegan fish or vegan burger. I opted for burger, but they were out of vegan cheese, so chose a double portion of fried onions. (Which turned out to be virtually cremated and just over a teaspoon full.) Then they came back and said their was no vegan buns for the burger. After a little debate from my boss, they increased my fries and gave me a half of cider to make up for it. When the meal arrived it was a vegan chicken burger, not what I'd expected, which was dry and overcooked and chopped in half for some reason. With a side sales of two dry lettuce leaves and a small chunk of raw red onion. (No dressing was offered or given, and that's not much of a side sales in mho. But by then I was resigned to a crapy meal.)
Everyone else looked pretty tasty, and they said so, and were happy. I felt less than satisfied by the experience, which is a shame, because I've been before (drinking, not eating) and been happy with the experience.
However, it's a new menu; and things can go wrong. So if your vegan I'm not going to recommend you eat here, but you can be sure to enjoy a drink to drown...
