We had booked before arrival and were seated straight away which was nice. The waiter (Tom) arrived prompltly to take our order and this was when our experience began to take a turn. 2 of our party asked for a glass of wine and were told that they only sold bottles, so you can imagine our surprise when the 2 tables next to us were served glasses some 20 minutes later. When ordering the meals, we were offered accompanying 'condiments' and asked for cranberry, apple and mint sauces. We were advised that they actually only had cranberry, this was quite disappointing especially as when we were leaving we saw tables being served with mounds of apple sauce. The roast pork was delightful (would have been better with the apple sauce) the slow cooked beef was not slow cooked but all in all, the dinners were nice. Roasties were banging, mash was smash, cauliflower cheese was very tasty. Although we didn't have desserts, we did see them being served and they looked lush. Slightly disappointing review after a slightly disappointing experience. Thus said, the setting was stunning and we took the chance to walk around the...

This one of a number of visits but two quite close together. We notice a change in attitude from some staff. Sorry to say, grumpiness, unwilling to make minor menu changes, 'upgrading' menu items that are unacceptable, menu items not delivered. We know you are busy; we know you are on your feet all day; we know and sympathise. We have run our own businesses and these things are for certain: When you are flooded with customers, there is a danger staff don't have to try to be good. When floor managers are grumpy and awkward with customers, that sets the staff standard. When I see that you can't be bothered about me; why on earth should I be bothered about you. Poor staff. Poor attitude. We will not return because quite close by there are staff who value their customers, and that's where we will be. Sorry for all your good staff, not their fault that their leaders fall short, but that is how business works. No...

Unfortunately despite twice in the restaurant explaining that the chicken supreme ordered is not a roast chicken dinner delivered. We where told its the cut of the chicken and as Sunday, we should have known it will be roast chicken. Even though we ordered chicken supreme. (white sauce with mushrooms usually with rice). Same problem with the Gammon, what we where given was sliced ham. After complaining the chicken was under cooked and bloody the manager never came back. Asked at the till why we didn't get a discount for the wrong meals and 2 where not cooked properly. The manager disappeared and we where ignored and got £104 bill. On FB they suggested we emailed them, 3 days later no reply. I guess we were just too nice to kick up a fuss. 2 hour journey for 2 of us 4 hours for our friends. Will never eat there again despite going...

We dropped into this lovely cafe on the recommendation of the owner of the lodge we were staying at. When we arrived at late lunchtime the staff were super helpful and did also tell us that food would be around 20 minutes as they were busy. This wasn't a problem, but like others have mentioned, it may be worth booking ahead during peak times. We had some dietary needs in our group but these were all taken well care of by the staff and kitchen (thank you!). The food has a good range and is fantastically tasty. I've had a few burgers in my time, but the one I had here was right up with the best. One of our group is a chef at a restaurant and he was very impressed too. The lovely atmosphere, light and airy setting as well as the lovely views really added to an excellent meal.

I recently visited Lake Side Café while driving back from Pembrokeshire to Newcastle, and it turned out to be the perfect stop. We were looking for a quick coffee break as we were tired from the long journey, but as soon as we arrived, all the tiredness seemed to fade away. The café has a refreshing and calm atmosphere, with beautiful views of the lake. Watching birds, children playing, and even some water sports on the lake added to the charm of the place. The café itself had a great vibe — the food was tasty, and the coffee was excellent, just what we needed for an energy boost. That small break not only recharged us but truly made our day and helped us complete the rest of our 8-hour drive feeling satisfied and relaxed. Highly recommend this spot if you’re passing by.

Lakeside Cafe with fab views over the lake, friendly team and warm bright open atmosphere. Pretty standard menu with changing specials, all excellent quality, very quick, very nice! Would definitely recommend. Prices reasonable (though you can find cheaper in less exquisite cafes in town). Down underneath the Cafe are a series of units where you can hire boats, bikes etc. the fishing club and boat club operate from here and there is a shop selling souvenirs, snacks, ice cream, hot and cold drinks for takeaway, bird food to give to the ducks and swans. Lakeside Boathouse. Outdoor and indoor toilets available.
