INDIAN STREET FOOD COMES TO EAST KILBRIDE This review is based on 3 visits to Masala Aroma over the last few weeks and, on the basis of those visits, it's clear that this new restaurant represents an important addition to what's on offer in EK. First of all, the interior decor, sourced from India, is high-quality and represents a commitment to offering customers an equally high quality experience. Secondly, the inclusion of an Indian Street Food section on the menu offers something which can't be found anywhere else in the town, or, indeed, further afield. Some of the items on this part of the menu are very interesting. There's Chole Bhature - chana masala and deep-fried bread made from plain flour; Chicken Momos - mince dumplings flavoured with soy sauce, chillies, peppers within a thin, steamed flour dough; Dahi Vada - a North Indian dish of lentil fritters accompanied by a creamy yoghurt; Masala Dosa, a signature dish, featuring fish cooked with chopped ginger, green chillies and gram flour. There are more, but I tried all of the above, and they were delicious. The menu offers more 'traditional' starters, such as various pakoras, sweet corn and chicken soup, salmon fry and various pooris amongst others. In the main section of the menu, there are various tandoori options, including salmon, as well as a selection of other chicken, lamb, king prawn and vegetable-based dishes, all offered with a variety of original sauces. The originality even extends to the drinks menu, where Amrut, an Indian Malt whisky, is offered, and spiced Indian tea is available. All in all, this is a new restaurant which deserves widespread recognition for attempting to do something significantly different from the usual Indian Restaurant fare. The owner's wife takes to do with the preparation of the Street Food element of the menu and the owner himself is an excellent and very hospitable host. I've had countless Indian meals over the years, but Masala Aroma is a bit different and is well worth a visit. You won't be...

Read moreVisited on 28/04/25 with an Itison voucher with my husband for dinner. Had actually forgotten about this but an email reminded me and I promptly booked. The outside was unimpressive but the decor inside showed an immediate good impression. The area covered the ground floor and mezzanine was tastefully decorated. We had a choice of seating as we were the only customers in at this point. We chose to sit at the window overlooking the car park/road. While we were looking at the menu the spiced onions and poppadoms arrived and we ordered a diet coke each to drink. We decided to order a starter each (not on the voucher) which did not disappoint. My husband had the Chicken Chaat, x4 moist looking drumsticks in a sweet and sour sticky sauce and the lovely Paneer and sweet pepper/onion Tikka kebabs x2 with a lovely cucumber and mint yoghurt dipping sauce which I hadn't had before. With a 10 minute break between courses the rice and plain naan were served along with 2 large portions of Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Masala which were both delicious and tender. We honestly couldn't finish these meals which was a shame but we both agreed that the service and decor and the food would tempt us back again even though we had some drinks/ starters (which weren't included in the deal). On the whole a very pleasant experience and worth the trip from...
