Oakham Chinese — Restaurant in Great Britain

I tried this Chinese for the first time last night and I was impressed! Originally I wanted delivery however the guy on the phone told me they don’t deliver so I went to collect. Collection was very quick and easy. The portions were great and price was very reasonable! Crispy shredded beef had a great crunch and the sweet and sour was one of the best I’ve ever had. Personally I would have preferred the salt and chilli ribs spicier but that’s just personal preference. 1 missing star as food could have been slightly hotter as I only had a 12 minute drive and the food was only warm once I got home Overall the food was great and price is very reasonable! I ordered food last night, 1/4 Aromatic duck and Singapore fried rice. Absolutely nothing wrong with the duck and it tasted quite nice.

However, I was truly disgusted when I found rotten shrimp/prawns in my Singapore fried rice. Unknowingly when I bit into the shrimps/prawns I had horrible smell infused into my mouth which made me throw up.

I have been eating Chinese cuisine for a while and I know what prawns should taste like. I am truly disappointed that your take away is willing to put peoples’ health at risk to turn a quick profit.

On the positive side, the staff were very friendly, and the portions were generous. We ordered prawns and cashews, prawns in black bean sauce, chicken chow mein, egg fried rice with curry sauce, and got some prawn crackers thrown into the deal. The prawn dishes had lovely juicy prawns and big cashew nuts, but all of the dishes, apart from the curry sauce, lacked any flavour, such as garlic, ginger, or soy sauce.
