Well, what can I say. We chose Castle Cottage for our wedding reception because we loved the outdoor, secret garden feel. The garden is beautiful, the marquee is so pretty and I love the outdoor bar and decking. Steve was great at adapting to what we wanted, and Leigh helped us create a delicious menu for our guests. It was a hot week leading up to our wedding ... but I've never seen so much rain on the actual day! However, Steve and his team pulled our day together amazingly, despite the bad weather. The marquee sides were closed for us to stop the rain coming in (which made things cosy!) and we swapped the decking dance floor to the marquee. Little gazebos were popped up to provide more space and shelter which did change the feel of the open garden space but kept our guests dry. Our 3 course meal and evening buffet was carried out through the rain to our guests from the cafe but this only added to the atmosphere of everyone pulling together. The food was incredible and we had lots of compliments. Nothing was too much trouble, despite a few things not working due to the rain. Both my husband and I had a fantastic day and wouldn't change a thing!! It really was a show of friends, family and the loveliest venue coming together. Thank you Castle Cottage, we are so happy to now be part of your family....
Read moreHave been to castle cottage many times with friends and family and always had good service and food. However took hubby who ordered a bacon sandwich which was to say embarrassing, cheap brown bread and two rashers of bacon, it was very poor for the price which was around ÂŁ5-6!! The young staff seem to work really hard but donât look like they enjoy their work but maybe the guy behind the counter has something to do with it. Seems quite rude and arrogant and not very approachable. Seems that new management has let down this beautiful place safe to say we wonât be going back.    Read moreI had afternoon tea here on a sunny Saturday in a party of 6. (Prebooked) The tea was delicious! very tasty sandwiches, such as chicken and mango, smoked salmon etc. The cakes were lovely and fresh scones and jam, with clotted cream, arrived just after we had eaten the sandwiches - a thoughtful touch. We had many pots of tea! A glass of Prosecco was an optional extra. Everyone really enjoyed themselves but as we could not finish (lightweights) boxes were provided to take the excess home. Thanks very much to all the staff involved. A gem of a cafe in a lovely setting, right in the...
