Seated promptly offered wine list polite hostess Atmosphere - very authentic to Rio eateries, music a little loud over the expected chatter decors is modern with a classic feel. Good explanation of service/(little fast) matredé well attentive, polite, well dressed slight air of arrogance however. Salad bar- unlimited visits allowed, fantastic selection of colds, meat, cheese, vegetables along with fantastic rosemary potatoes. 9/10 First meat, rump - good flavour, seasoned well, slightly over cooked. 6/10 Second meat, pork sausage - cooked excellently, tender, juicy, prime flavours, slight earthy tone 7/10 Unpeeled fries, good portions, good texture, fluffy yet crispy outside. Brought to table without request Third meat (offered) spiced chicken wings, declined to try / Fourth meat -BBQ chicken -juicy, good sauce ratio, nicely glazed and BBQ smoke flavour as if cooked ok charcoal grill 5/10 Firth meat - lamb, strong rosemary smell, slightly tough exterior, juices flow free, disappointing, very chewy, overly seasoned no real flavour to the meat. 0/10 Sixth meat - fillet minion, good outside texture, no juice overflow, fantastic flavour, little over done for med rare however preference to rare is expected with a choice cut. As a brisket goes, 11/10 Awaiting further steak I was asked what I requested.
Finally the ribeye, my favourite cut, looks very tender and juicy, cooked more toward the rare side (no complaints here) than the advertised med rare, good colour and marble and the taste ...belissimo !! Read moreI have been to this restaurant over 7-8 times and have always loved it. Unfortunately last night with my friends was not one of those visits. My friend made the booking over the phone , received confirmation we arrived on time and were enjoying our food when a member of staff came over to ask “ which name the booking was in “. This was an hour into us sitting down in the middle of our food. We then had lots of glances over our table and another 15 minutes later the lady came back and picked up a friend’s plate away while everyone else was still eating and asked us “ have you tried everything , is there anything else you want etc etc “ which made us feel rushed. The servers always ask for special requests etc but no one has ever spoke to us in a way that came across “ if you have have tried everything then wrap it up “ . Another 5 minutes later the same lady came with the bill and told we had to leave as they needed the table . We were shocked , we were only just finishing our mains and hadn’t yet ordered dessert or another drink. When we questioned why we were asked to leave as no one told us we had 1.5 hour to leave the lady ( who then told us she was the manager named Natalie ) said it was in the booking confirmation and website and we should have looked , it was restaurant week and in a way said it is what it is , in a very smug way which left everyone feeling uncomfortable.
I checked the message and the website , it does not state we have 1.5 hour before we need to leave the table. We were given many backhanded comment, a very condescending smile and smug way of talking. We were then told by the manager as she took the bill from in front of my friend “ I will remove the service charge” again with a rude manner.
If the table was booked after us we should have been told when we sat down as an FYI so we could have planned our meal more timely. The fact that the table was needed wasn’t the problem but the way it was handled was a big issue.
We always really enjoy coming to Rio’s , the servers are always very friendly. This was a truly bad experience and hope...
Read moreRecently visited this place on 23 4 22 booked a table for 4 was greeted well on arrival shown to our table and our Waiter Carl was Superb . Hot & cold buffer nothing flash . But once seated the Delicious meat started flowing and I mean flowing you have a type of beer mat with red and green traffic light .
Concept is keep it turned over o to green and these guys constantly deliver your meat on a skewer you ask for rare medi rare or well done and they cut it off the appropriate parts of the meat .
The selection of meats is incredable . The service is top notch carnt fault it. Now for the Downside. THE PRICE . We booked a table for 4 for 8 pm . had 2 rounds of drinks which were 2x peroni 2x corona 4x vodka & cokes & 2 x deserts for the lasses. Total bill £215.00 . Now for this reason I have only given the review 3 stars . Although the food and service were excellent . In these challenging times with the cost of living I'm not sure what the Longentivity of Rios is going too be . Placed in Middlesbrough North East of England. But the prices are London prices in Middlesbrough .
Not sure if that's going too work . Plus I can honestly say even tho the meat is excellent . I dont think we ate more than £40 worth of meat between the 4 of us .
It's way too expensive and for me it's a place where someone would try out just too say they've been to experience thier meat. But is that enough . I don't think so . A lot of these buffet places go bust after so long . It would be a shame to see Rios close but they do need to sort thier prices out real quick otherwise it...
