It was a disappointment expirience and we are not going back.
Me and my friends decided to go in the pub when we just arrived to the town, becouse we loved it but after our visit to Blair Castle.
After the amazing visit we went straight away to the pub to have some drinks and late lunch. We saw the "cover terrace" full and a few wood tables, like 4, outside, 3 where wet but one just a wee bit. The waiter said that we couldn't sit in the cover terrace (obviously was busy), and we asked for the wooden one and he said we can't becouse they are not doing "table service there", so we wanted to wait for one outside, but the waiter said it was going to long.
Then we decided to go inside but requesting many times, if they have any table outside free we wanted it. I loved the style inside, and amazing atmosphere, very traditional. But we saw guests living the table, the waiters going with the bills, and wiping the tables and we asked to them "is there any table free outside please?" They told us there isn't just now but we are going to be in touch with you at the moment we get one.
So we were starving and we ordered our food, and again asking, at least, 3 o 4 time a table outside to have drinks and the desserts and they told us they are going to save one for us.
So we ate, the food was amazing, that's the truth: Steak pie and Haggis, Neeps and tatties, and when the waiter asked for dessert we said " we want to eat them outside". We kindly requested (again) a table outside, and one of them said yes just wait 5 min, so we did. Bills going out, waiter cleaning tables, and we wanting. We got tired of wait so we asked for the bill, and when we went outside My friend asked again and somebody said they were for "local people" or people who is staying at the hotel. We got very mad at the waiters, overall with the waiter who said "they were not serving anything in the wooden tables" because they dried up tables for others guest and not for us to waste our time.
We felt very disappointed, angry and also a wee bit discriminated for a placed that we thought it was going to be a nice experience. And we didn't understand why they just said we are not going to have any table for you in all day so we could choose other places.
We are people who work in hospitality too, and I can understand some things during the service and the new lockdown approved by the Scottish government is just a nightmare but if I commit to a client, I'll do it everything to them whatever they are.
Thank you...

Food varied in quality, kid's macaroni cheese was good but chicken goujons were greasy and a bit chewy. Hot smoked salmon sandwich was good. Ham and cheese sandwich was a tad dry. Has a fun play area for kids. Joins onto the train station, kids enjoyed watching the...
