Not a good experience - arrived for a quick lunch seeing it was less than half full and was seated at quite a dirty table. I ordered a drink and food on the app but no option for tap water which was what my wife just wanted to stick to. I asked a waitress if she could kindly bring some and she said yes. A little while later I asked again and was told there was a wait on the water whilst they cleaned glasses? In the meantime I was served my beer in a dirty glass. I didn't end up asking for a new one as I couldn't get anyone's attention. Having waited 15 minutes we then overheard people coming in being told the wait on food was an hour! We, I think understandably, were concerned about how long our food would take given what we overheard so I asked someone how long it was likely to be as we'd probably get a refund and go elsewhere if it's a long time. They said they would check. 5 minutes later I was told someone would come over and let us know. After waiting for a few minutes I admittedly lost some patience given I was waiting to find out how long the wait on food would be... I was eventually told it wouldn't be long. After 40 minutes of ordering some very basic food we got it, along with a somewhat sarcastic waitress who whilst offering free drinks which I appreciated, also said that the food was half an hour in the end (it wasn't) and that that is their normal anyway so she doesn't know why I was worried. I daren't have mentioned, after all that, my wife's poached egg wasn't even runny...
Small overpriced food, poor service and communication and some cleanliness issues too. Not a great sign especially when the place was less...
Read moreWe arrived and were seated quickly. The menus and ordering arrangements were not explained to us.
We had a look at the menus and then realised only by looking at another table, that we could order via the app. We did this and paid up front which is fine, however i find it really odd that we were asked for a tip even before getting any sort of service, drinks or food. We declined the tip option.
Around 10 minutes or so after we had placed our order via the app, our server came over to take our order and we had to advise them that we had already ordered. This felt a little awkward, almost although we had made an error.
Our drinks arrived and shortly after our food too. The loaded fries with beef were very very good, couldn't fault them. However, the pizza really wasnt good at all. The dough had very little taste and was so thin it was just dry. The sauce then over powered everything and it just wasnt a good experience. The toppings were also not generous like most other pizzas we have eaten out.
Our server then bought over a new pizza for me, as the cheese had been left off of mine. This was a nice touch, i was very grateful, however, i still didn't enjoy it,unfortunately.
We really wanted to like The Stable, however, over all, we would not return as it is now, as some improvements need to be made. Maybe a thin crust and a thicker option for the pizzas, as the offering at the moment was pale, dry and had a very unappetising look.
This is a constructive review and we genuinely hope the proprietors read this and take note. The Stable could be great, but unfortunately, at the moment, it...
Read moreStable is a welcome addition to Padstow’s restaurant offerings. We are regular visitors to the area and are always pleased to find somewhere new that you can dine as a family.
Based on the site of the Clipper which stood there for years, Stable is one of a chain of UK restaurants, offering a relaxed bar vibe and casual atmosphere.
We came to dine at Padstow Stable three days after they opened their doors and were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to our seats. The kids were well looked after with crayons to colour in and the waiters were always polite and attentive.
Pizza is the main offering on the menu, which we ordered, but there are other options available. The two pizzas we chose were large and enjoyable. One of the things we did feel though was that the children’s pizza was a bit small and our older child was left still feeling a bit hungry afterwards, but there was still plenty of ours left to share so no harm done! Stable also has a good offering of local beers and ciders.
All in all we very much enjoyed our evening at Stable and have agreed to go back for lunch later on in our stay. In regard to family friendly eateries in the harbour this is certainly one of the better ones so would...
