Me and my other half were wondering the Shrewsbury Town streets in search of somewhere out of our ordinary to eat. Not a chain restaurant, fast food or usual modern pub food. We wanted something quirky or different, so we wondered into this mysterious corner pub on a chilly afternoon. It was very welcoming, very cosy, Christmas music playing, windows decorated. We ordered Parsnip and Sweet potato soup for starters which came with soft, warm bread. I then Cod, chips and peas which came with a nice side salad. My boyfriend had Roast peppers stuffed with meatballs and homemade tomato sauce. All the food was delicious, exactly what we wanted so it hit the spot. Read moreStayed in Shrewsbury for a couple of days with some colleagues. We really didn't like hotel we stated in (the lion) and were fortunate enough to find this gem of a pub. A proper British public house. Firstly can I say that the lady serving was fantastic, 10/10. She made everyone feel welcome and was so friendly. She would make a fantastic landlady or someone running something for herself. The owners are very lucky to employ someone who is vivacious and great with every customer, of every age. Sam the lady behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming although pity they no longer do food after Covid was lifted. It would have been nice to have a sandwich or portion of chips with my pint.... However, sat outside "people watching" whilst enjoying my pint and even the sun managed to pop it's head out of the clouds to say hello and make it feel warmer...
