Absolutely appalling service, bordering on fraudulent.

Interrupted by our waitress mid conversation with a ‘READY?!’ and some stern look.

Ordered two glasses of wine, which took over 20 minutes to arrive.

Ordered the Côte de Boeuf (a steal at nearly £70 for 2) and was pretty gobsmacked when a male member of (unkempt, beard, incredibly rude) staff tried to serve us two minute steaks chopped up on a plate next to each other, clearly intended to look like a Côte de boeuf, which was idiotic in itself as it was missing the bone and less than half the size!

I pointed out that this clearly wasn’t a Côte de boeuf and again, after slamming our plates down, he said ‘we ran out of Côte de boeuf, these are two ribeyes’. Firstly, they were not ribeye steaks - they were half an inch thick. Secondly, I pointed out this was not what we ordered or were paying for and he said ‘oh so you don’t want them?!’ and stormed off!

Just beyond belief… I was so disgusted with the service and attitude from not just him but the younger lady with brunette hair and the woman in her 50’s who was walking around slamming food down on elderly folks’ tables then just walking off that I walked out myself, after paying for what we had eaten and drank.

I have never experienced anything like it in my life, all 3 members of staff deserve the sack as far as I’m concerned - they ruined a rare child free lunch for myself and my wife and having visited Côte 20+ times, I never will again. Read your most recent tripadvisor and google reviews, these people have a serious attitude problem and are costing you money. A group of six walked straight back out the door after I explained what we’d just...

When we arrived very cramped space! Literally could hear the people next to you. Waited 20 minutes for a drink! They then took our food order the starter came almost same time as drinks. Charged £4 for bottle of French lager you can get 20 for £10 at Lidl, Merlot was bad, no taste, £7 a glass. Then to top it off brought the people sat next to us meals out and tried to tell us it was ours. My wife asked for medium rare, the waitress said it was well done then lied and said it was medium rare. The people next to us said that was their food, ordered before us! They then took the food back all they had to do was apologise to people next to us and give them their food! We were not happy and staff didn't apologise to people next to us. So we got up and said cancel our meal. The women said your meal is coming now you can have it for free. We decided not to and she said please don't worry about your drinks and starter and we left. She gave me a card with free bottle of wine next time, but we won't be attending again. This was meant to be a belated birthday and valentine's dinner, so really let down! I never write reviews but I doubt that place will be open in 6 months but the chain will just bring out somewhere else. One positive! The squid was unbelievable hence the high mark for food, just wish I had a better night and the...

Made our third visit to Cote Brasserie on Wednesday 16 January 2019 . We were very impressed with the quality of food which seems to have improved since our previous two visits. Our son felt comfortable and relaxed . He has been unwell recently but managed to clear the plate for both his main course and pudding Chocolate Mousse.

I had a really nice Roast Belly of Pork with Savoy cabbage and a separate dish of potato gratin. My wife had a well cooked roast duck breast with a griottine cherry sauce. My wife gave our son and myself a griottine cherry to try - pow! - cherries soaked in alcohol - our 21 year old son had to have a quick splash of the complementary water to get his taste buds back in operation!

Really nice puddings to follow and friendly service. My only gripe is the bill which has an additional 12.5 % service charge added on the bottom , although it is clearly labelled as voluntary . I would be happier to give a tip if it was not presented in this way, although I know this is the way it is done in France.

Previous Comment - Called in on Sunday afternoon. A pleasant atmosphere with brilliant service and attention to what the customer wants. A good range of dishes at reasonable prices. A seating area in the square outside adds to the...

Our waitress Roaxanne was amazing, great personality and vibe, I ordered the cote de buef to my self ( quite hungry and as a powerlifter / bodybuilder intake required for the day is high and I haven't eaten for a large majority of the day Usually when someone orders a meal for 2 to them selves this causes issues or their is a silly comment, but not here Roxanne was amazing and professional and advised on the best selection and cooks for our meals with a great sense of humour also. she noticed that the table was going to be too small for the amount of food ordered and offered a larger table with no hesitation moved our drinks to the new table and always checked in on us to ensure everything was satisfactory. customer service was fantastic I had no problem paying the service charge due to this hospitality we was made welcome and looked after Would recommend and definitely would go again we came here randomly while walking through Shrewsbury and the menu looked really appealing so a unintentional visit and came aware amazed

Went here on a Saturday night for my mums birthday and its was very good. Service was exceptional with just the right amount of humour. The food was excellent too. I had the ribeye steak which was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Definitely one of the nicer places to eat in Shrewsbury. April 2024 update as we have visited again: Had a fantastic meal here for my dad's birthday. We had a lovely round table which was perfect as we could all talk to each other. The food was fantastic. We all had three courses and all agreed that the food was exceptional and very reasonably priced. I was happy to see that we had Tony as our waiter as I remembered him from the last time we visited, he was very attentive and easy to get on with. We really loved his sense of humour he got my dad laughing which doesn't happen very often. I was impressed by how Tony managed to serve all 5 of us very quickly without leaving any of us waiting for food.

You could think that you are on holiday sitting outside taking in the the historic building's and watching the world go by. Served by a very nice young lady. Service was relaxed no being rushed. I ordered the chicken pork and mushroom terrine with pickles, I found the texture in places a bit mushy due to the mushrooms. It was ok but not the best. My husband had the salmon rillets with capers. In my opinion the capers overtook any flavour of the salmon away. I had a minute steak with fries. Unfortunately it was cold and fries were tepid. It was replaced with a hot steak and fries on a warmed plate. Nothing too exciting about it. Steak was a little on the chewy side. My husband had the rib eye steak which was very good. So swings and roundabouts.
