Unfortunately, I happened to visit on a very busy night and they had accidentally taken too many orders, leading to a long wait and hectic service. A driver was able to pick up two separate orders while I waited for mine.
The ordering process I did through their website as opposed to JustEat. Their website left a lot to be desired and when I paid for my order, there was no time or confirmation that it had went through, only that I could pay by card. I had to check my emails to see if it had went through, and I had two different orders with different times, one stating it would be ready to pickup an hour before I placed the order. To ask for order changes such as piri-piri spice on chips had to be put in an alternative comments box at the end of the order, which led to one of my comments not being fulfilled. If I had a lettuce allergy, it would have led to an awkward A&E visit.
I had ordered a piri-piri Hoagie and the chicken within was slightly charred and had that bitter burnt taste on some of the bites and my order comment had led to unwanted salad littered throughout my food but due to the long wait, it had wilted and become unpleasant to eat.
The chip portions was unfortunately small for the pricing but they had applied piri-piri flavouring to my large fries order as requested, which helped pad out the smaller orders of fries for the rest of my group.
My friend had ordered a piri piri quesadilla and said he liked it but wanted more sauce. I didn't eat it, obviously, so I'm sure it was nice.
It seems like a nice place, but the absolutely hectic environment and the long wait led to a decent meal but an unpleasant experience overall. I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just the super busy night, but I feel indifferent about the place and I won't be ordering again. I'm sure they're great, just be sure to order through JustEat and be careful if you have allergies or...
Read moreThis is the kind of place you roll into as you roll out of the pub half cut and think a "German doner" is worth a try. I've had a few in Greece and elsewhere. Where do I start? This place should be a roadside food truck. The branding is 2nd to none. Sadly the food, service, atmosphere and cleanliness is less impressive.
The front door was covered in fingerprints...first impressions matter. A family I had seen 10 minutes earlier were still waiting for their take away as I walked in. It looked like they might be prioritising deliveries?
I asked what a German Doner was and was shown a hunk of bread that would have burst my stomach so I opted for the wrap and peri peri salt coated chips. All the while competing with the music over the shop's loudspeakers. I tried to pay and they needed to reset their payment system...no biggy. Just another fail. They seem to have not gotten the memo about single use plastic utensils.....box near window full of clear plastic forks and knives.
Got to my car and ate the not bad chips if a tad dry having waited a good ten minutes. Then I went for the doner in the wrap. I took one bite and consigned it to the over sized Yaya's branded paper bag. Not even hot, slimy and tasteless with a modicum of salad. Like I said if I had had a few beers on me it might have been passable. If I were you I'd head up to the Criterion where the food and service...
Read moreGot a takeaway from here on 14th Feb. Waited 40minutes for my order, they apologized and gave me a can of soft drink for keeping me waiting , the place was not busy , but did have a few delivery orders, however with 6 staff in this small place the chef could do better. The german doner kebabs are nothing like what they should be, they use the correct bread toasted, however they then spoil it by spreading each inside of the bread one with mayo and one with chili sauce which make the crispy toasted bread go soggy. The meat needs to be thinner cut to be authentic german doner. The kebab was finished to with a salad consisting of onions which were fine and pickled cabbage from jar. This was awful, red cabbage should be double shredded thinly, and yes fresh , it should not be pickled. The mayo and chili sauce should be put on to the meat just before adding salad. This place has a bit to learn about authentic german doners. The peri peri chicken lemon herb was good but had very little if any lemon herb flavor. The butterfly chicken had a nice mango flavor but was very dry inside, not very nice. The mash was okay but could do with being a bit creamy it was a bit thick. So sorry I will not be returning, I heard a lot of good things about the food here but I was severely disappointed with my food which came to just under £22. So in terms of value it sis good but the...
