We went on 6th March 2022 excited to try new place for the first time. Soon as we sat down, another customer arrived with his dog, which was not on a leash and not controlled. The dog continued to go under a table near us to eat things, the owner wasn't even aware of this. I asked a member of staff to ask the dog owner to call his dog back, but to no avail. We had a four year old child with us, who's had a very bad experience with a dog and hence was visibly distressed- which meant he wasn't enjoying his food and almost spilled his drink. Rather than controlling the dog, the dog owner was rude to us and passive aggressive. Another couple arrived with their dog, which was on a leash and tied to the table- hence causing no issues at all
Sad to say we will not be returning to Cafe Beirut. To think I had already suggested this place to a number...
Read moreWow I just tried a lamb shwarma wrap today as I needed some grab and go type of food. I was impressed because they used the kind of slightly crusty rustic wrap bread I like. And the flavors inside were very well balanced. There was no overwhelming taste of anything. It felt like all flavors were equal e.g. the taste of lamb and seasoning, and the taste of the actual wrap. Clearly not a mass production. The wrap was so incredibly good, that after having the first bite I literally inhaled the whole thing and going back for more soon! Also the owner was very nice to talk to, it really matters. Going to try their other wraps soon! The only thing I am not entirely satisfied about is the price. I can get a much bigger Mexican wrap (all made from scratch) for less in Woking town centre. Still 5...
Read moreLebanese is my favourite cuisine so I'd been wanting to try this cafe for a while. I really wanted to like it but it was a huge disappointment. We sat down and waited for our order to be taken but, after a while, I gave up and went to the counter. It was obvious the man who gave us the menus had forgotten we were there. Ordered 2 schwarma wraps (1 lamb, 1 chicken). I then asked if they served Turkish tea. Bad mistake! I then got lectured at on how this isn't a Turkish cafe (I know), that Turkey and Lebanon are different places (who knew..?!) and that you should only ask for Turkish tea in a Turkish restaurant. I was going to point out that in his Lebanese cafe he was serving English breakfast tea, Danish Pastries and cappuccino (Italian) but I couldn't be bothered. Poor...
