Not A Starbucks Star
Because the shop I wanted to use is closed for renovations, I drove out of my way up the A3 and on to the M25 because there is nowhere to turn off the A3 after Send, the slip for that is almost in Burpham! I assumed the level of service would be as good as any Starbucks but forgot I have been here before and never felt quite comfortable, it always seemed grubby. I was pleased to see it was clean and not too busy, not busy at all in fact. I was served quickly, only one woman before me and she was paying when I arrived: I asked firt to add £5 to my Starbucks card so I can earn points when I pay. The fiver went on swiftly but after three tries of a debit card on a machine that "does that sometimes", I switched to a contactless one and succeeded. At this point I was still happy. The hot chocolate arrived as requested (in a take-away cup with lid) and I awaited the fruit toast. I was aksed whether I desired honeyor butter or jam and chose jam with butter as it was actually for my wife busy at home ironing for England and I had strict instructions. I was slightly baffled when the toast/jam combo arrived on a plate so I asked for a bag. Starbucks use an excellent heat and damp resistant paper bag for fruit toast, it keeps everything . . . a normal paper bag arrived held open for me and captioned by the voice of the barista: "Is it for take away then?" I replied in the affirmative expecting a rapid change of materials but was offered only: "Oh, I didn't realise!" Not wishing to allow cooling of the toast nor of my son's hot chocolate (he was at home, five years old and feeling unwell - with a fever - mother thinks maybe chicken pox), I forbore complaint and whooshed out of the car park, up the A3, around the M25 junction and back down the A3 to home with only two thoughts. I never feel great at that Starbucks and at least my wife will be satisfied but of course that didn't happen. Once the bag was open the cat was metaphorically loose: the toast was burned on one side and so twisted and misshapen it looked like the runt at the end of the pack. My fault of course for not using the correct branch (like it's my fault they're renovating) and for not complaining enough even when I managed to arrive before it cooled. I checked the receipt thinking I had overpaid for take-away and discovered she had entered that on the till so she did know just didn't think. I hope the other one re-opens soon, I do not want to drive to Guildford High Street just for my...
Read moreFirst & last visit - same as other reviews & comments: “Really poor staff attitude. Arrogant ignorant and rude.”
‘Served’ by Dencko today who was unable to produce a latte to a very polite lady who simply wanted a coffee break during a long drive – Staff member wanted to argue the wording & description despite customer purchasing same for over a decade throughout other branches. Latte obviously was not up to scratch, branch manager stepped in to re-make correctly & when apologised on behalf of rude staff member, said offending staff member intervened to argue why an apology was being given – Dencko himself refused to apologise & weak manager totally unable to control the staff member displaying a serious attitude problem & aggression especially towards a female customer. Absolutely disgusting that this is the public face of a worldwide...
Read moreThis place is really hit and miss with regards to customer service and quality of beverages served. Several times when I've used my Starbucks mug the coffee has only been filled to halfway, several other times it has been filled to two thirds. When asking for syrup the amount given varies from one pump to four or five. Several times my mug has been handed to me covered in sticky coffee residue. I no longer use my mug because of the aforementioned problems! Serving times also vary tremendously and not necessarily relating to the amount of customers queuing. My final gripe is that able-bodied customers frequently abuse the disabled person's parking spaces. Perhaps the threat of a fine and towing the vehicle away would deter those selfish,...
