Ripley Curry Garden — Restaurant in Guildford

Trying to find a new curry house, we were advised to try Ripley curry garden.

Delivery was late, but not by much and found an awkward address

Coconut rice - very good Mushroom - very good

Lamb korma - meat was fantastic and lots of it, it melted in your mouth, but the sauce was greasy, albeit a nice flavor.

Chicken tikka danshak, spiced up to vindaloo heat - meat was brilliant and lots of it in big chunks, but this curry should be earthy being made from chic peas, but this was extremely tomatoey and acidic, heat was perfect but the taste of the sauce was not right.

Sag aloo - personally I liked it but I scrape all the sag off and just have the potato, but my partner found it greasy and left half of what she dished up.

Peshwari naan - absolutly fantastic, we could easily just order a load of naans lol

Popadoms - fresh and crispy

Mint sauce - very sweet almost too sweet, tasted like mango, nice but not perfect, this sauce comes in different variations across the board and this one was a tad too sweet sided for me.

Mango chutney - the mrs discribed as baby food, puréed but then mango chutney is mango chutney it doesn’t change much.

All in all, it’s not the best Indian takeaway we’ve found so far but it’s not the worst, I would say value for money isn’t there as this order was £50 which seems about £10 more...

There was a time I would've EASILY given them 5 stars but now.....WAY too overpriced. Nearly £50 just for TWO meals....NAH. We used to get 3 meals for under £40....now we can't even get 2 for that. Plus in recent times an increasing number of pods..ugghhhhh!!!! The only reason I've given 3 not 2 stars is the general taste and quality of the food. There's also been a lot of new staff in recent times....and with that there's also been various problems with orders and cash. Just think.....if there wasn't the fact that my jaw hit the floor when I was told the price of my most recent meals.....none of these factors would've even been mentioned. So......you increase your prices by a ridiculous amount......this is the result. Sorry folks...just speaking the truth.....and remember.....the 3rd star is ONLY because I'm feeling generous and because the food is mostly really good...despite the pods!!!! We won't however be ordering from them again. We do apologise most sincerely for no longer contributing to the running of...

Wow what a day the team surpassed themselves. I needed a venue for a large family gathering for Sunday Lunch and asked Shaz if he could help. How many he asked, 37 I replied, and I gave him the date. Without missing a beat, he replied that could help. Shaz closed the restaurant for us and from when we turned up to when we left, I did not lift a finger, the front of house team was on the ball. They picked up a couple of issues, asked my advice and then went and sorted the problem. The food was excellent and the team in the kitchen need a huge pat on the back. Five stars on all fronts and well deserved. I have had nothing but complements from the family. Well done for making a difficult task look easy. Shaz your team are a credit to you. We will see you soon…. but probably with this...
