A pleasant venue with good, reasonably priced food. However, despite sitting inside, was served tea in paper cups, with nylon teabags and even 2 extra disposable containers for the milk. I brought this to the attention of the staff but the response was uninterested, and when I asked whether there was option to have a proper cup next time, there was no commitment. I dislike being served in paper cups because I find the experience unpleasant, but also because it is an incredible waste of resources. It only takes 18 uses for a china cup to equal the manufacture of paper ones, and this does not take into account the environmental impacts of transporting to and from the premises, use of resources which could be better diverted elsewhere, and the likely need for incineration or ending up in landfill where they take more than 20 years to decompose. Was looking forward to a visit here, but was left feeling a second visit won't be on the cards.
The place obviously makes money on the cafe side, yet it is cramped and no seats at busy times. Surely a revamp allocating more space inside and cutting down on the gifts side, which I didn't see anyone spending in whilst I was there, is needed?
Also needed is a staff attitude overhaul. What a surly and unhelpful bunch! Shame Richardsons over the road doesn't do refreshments, because both staff and environment beat...
Read moreIf you are passing through Ripley and need a coffee then this is a great, quirky little stop. Visited yesterday and it was lovely sitting outside in the scorching heat. Obviously covid restrictions in place but they are pretty good here. Coffee came in takeaway cup. Not sure if that is normal or because of covid. I wish they wouldn’t though.
