The University of Surrey's rightly respected School of Hospitality and Tourism Management runs this classy restaurant (which, many years ago, was called the Teaching Restaurant). Here, students from the many disciplines within the School must put into practice the front-of-house and behind-the-scenes skills so necessary to a first-class career in the hospitality business.
My experience here was enhanced by being able to read the menus on-line beforehand, and the three-course lunch, plus wine and coffee, was served with modern, moderately haute-cuisine food and with an eye on our tight schedule. When one of the students looking after table-service did not quite know what to do, help quickly arrived; and the food was excellent throughout.
