Just had a really poor experience this morning. I went here with my wife as Gail's is one of our favourites. We decided for the first time we would sit in and enjoy breakfast with the made to order menu. We ordered everything and paid - two of the items we ordered was the porridge with blueberry compote and almond butter. As well as the toast with Almond Butter and Jam.
After we purchased everything, we were told it would take about 15 - 20 mins. Considering we were first in the queue and there was no more orders in front - we were a little sceptical but accepted it. We were then told there was no almond butter, which was frustrating as my wife is pregnant so we have to be careful what we eat. After about 25 mins, a family who were served after us, received their made to order items first which is ridiculous.
Then we were told unfortunately they had no blueberry compote, so basically the porridge was not what was ordered - it came out with nothing on and they asked if we wanted some blueberries. They then put a load of blueberries on top and it was just ridiculous. My wife had the thickest bread possible it wasn't 'toast' - it was a slab of bread which had barely been toasted.
We associate quality with Gails similar to Waitrose in supermarkets. However, this was beyond disappointing, a massive waste of time and somewhere i will not be re-visiting for...
Read moreI’ve given Gail’s in Fleet more chances than I probably should have, but it continues to disappoint. The place is often dirty, and the staff rarely smile, which makes for a cold and uninviting atmosphere. Service is slow, like, snail’s pace slow—and there’s definitely no “service with a smile” to be found.
The most frustrating part, though, is the complete inconsistency with their kitchen hours. I came in at 14:10 once and was told the kitchen had closed at 14:00. Ok that’s fine. So the next time, I came at 13:00, guess what? Kitchen is closed. I challenged it and was met with confusion. So I tried again at another day at 12:40, closed! Why? Again staff just said “not sure but it’s closed.” Today, I came in at 12:45 and was told the kitchen was closed because the cook was on a break. A break? At lunchtime? Over an hour before the supposed closing time? It’s honestly ridiculous.
I even complained to head office about this almost a year ago and was told they’d look into it. Never heard back.
The only reason I still step foot in here is because my wife likes their coffee and drags me in. When they do get it right, the food is okay, but “okay” doesn’t make up for the inconsistency, poor service, and constant irritation. Gail’s Fleet really needs to...
Read moreSorry but not impressed, the staff were lovely but the baked goods all looked over cooked! We ordered a croissant and two coffees which was extremely overpriced, then when we asked for butter we’re told it was an extra 40p. I’d already paid so I had to use my card for the extra as they don’t take cash!! The butter was so hard that it was unspreadable. The coffees were in large cups with just a small amount of coffee in the bottom. We had asked for hot milk but the small jug between us was cold. When I took the coffees back we were given fresh coffees, the cups were full this time & the milk was warm but not really hot. The whole experience was extremely disappointing. We managed to sit on chairs because we wouldn’t have been able to sit on the small, low stools or wooden benches which looked very...
