Gurkha Chef — Restaurant in Hastings

The food is most excellent, however the service and customer care could do with a bit of tweaking. As I was working Xmas day I messaged to see if they were open... No response, so I went in 23rd and they confirmed they would do takeaway Xmas day. Went in Xmas eve and gave written order. Went in Xmas day before work to collect my food to eat after work when they would be closed, when I got home 11pm Xmas day, I found my order incomplete, so it was not very enjoyable as id ordered the mixed grill and a saag dish, only got part of the mixed grill and the saag was not there, it had been replaced with mixed veg curry which I do not like, so my meal was very unsatisfying eating dry meat without the saag dish I'd ordered. Popped in last night after work and was told a manager would call today, no call by 5pm so I called them.... After alot of explanation the manager agreed to make me the saag dish and also what was missing from my mixed grill (the king prawn.. The best bit)! So 2 days after I had my Xmas meal, I finaly got what I paid for (and tipped heavily) I will return, as the food is excellent... But I def won't order takeaway from them again. Note to manager, when you mess up someone's very expensive Xmas day dinner..... Maybe pop an extra prawn or two to make up for it🤔 Also, the manager seemed quite dismissive with me on the phone, and when he repeated back and go it wrong and I repeated louder and clearer, he accused me of shouting, clearly not happy to admit when they get things wrong which is a real pity as I say the food and the waiting staff are...

Oh my goodness, the food here was D I V I N E, with views of the sea whilst we enjoyed our food and drink was also very special! Favourite starter was the ‘vegetable pakoda’ well seasoned, lovely fresh and crispy and served with a delicious dipping sauce. The main that stole the show was ‘Gurkha Chilli’ which we had with lamb. My word the lamb was so unbelievably tender and seasoned to absolute perfection. I think it may have been the single most delicious lamb dish I have ever tried in my life. Just melt in the mouth fabulous with a nice kick. Popadums were light crispy and a lovely garlic naan too! Congrats Gurkha Chef you have just taken my number one spot for St Leonards 🌟 There was some drama with the staff - but dinner and a show is how we saw it. Amazing food and really lovely staff but sadly wouldn't eat in again. It just took so long, an hour for our food to come up yet takeaways we're been churned out constantly so I think the eating in customers take a back seat. But it was really amazing food, the order was a little wrong, just the rice so wasn't worth bothering then with (or risk waiting any longer for new dishes) no offer of a dessert menu so can't comment on them. It was a Saturday evening so maybe that accounts for the long wait but we did book a table..... we will return but only for takeaway in the future as the food...
