We dined at the Blue Bell twice during our stay in Emsworth. It was a busy weekend with Goodwood Revival on, but they provided excellent service even when very busy. Based on other reviews, I did some research before we got there and ordered food promptly upon seating. I think this was a good choice. The food and service were great! In particular, I must say a huge thanks to the staff last night (Peter on the floor, Simon in the kitchen) who took pity on an Aussie that left it until the evening to try for a meal with a Yorkshire pudding (rookie move). They went above and beyond, cooking one just for me to accompany my pie... something they don't normally do, so please don't expect this! I'm sharing to illustrate what wonderful service we received. The food was very good! Delicious. Also loved the ploughman's and soup. Husband loved his seafood pie and mussels. Pics are from one of the two visits. Thank you for fulfilling a couple of my fave British food cravings. Wish I could come every weekend 😊

Blue Bell’s the “got it all” pub in Emsworth village in terms of good quality drinks selection, good pub food and atmosphere. There’s aways a decent selection of beers on tap, relatively ok wine list (actually pretty good as far as English pubs go) and quite a wide range of gin. 90% of the time Blue Bell makes a mean burger, top notch fish and chips (90% of the time), tasty fish pie and more… basically the kitchen’s good and more consistent than the other pubs in town. The nautical decor and group of chatty locals create a good atmosphere for anyone who is looking for a relaxing sea side village feel in their pub.

We arrived on a Monday at 11:05 to get a quick breakfast. The sign outside says that they serve breakfast until 11:30 on that day. We entered and were not greeted so went up to the bar to ask for a menu to quickly order a small English breakfast. There were two young girl behind the bar and rudely said that they weren’t servicing breakfast anymore. They should honour their advertisement or at least talk to potential customers with a little decency. I will not be returning to this place due to their lack of customer service.

We are so disappointed today we love to come here for a roast, Today our dinners came out cold first the waitress scooped the sweed off our plate’s and took it to be reheated then we realised the meat was also cold when the waitress came back we told her she took our plates out to the kitchen and I saw Giles waving his hands in the air then she came back with dinners and said the chef refused to re heat them there was a couple on the table next to us who had the same problem, ?? we were all so shocked at the attitude it of the chef who didn’t come out to tell us himself. We asked if we could speak to him and she said he was too busy, ! We couldn’t believe it. If we weren’t so hungry and thinking that we would most likely not get another roast anywhere else at this time would have just given it back.when the waitress came back to take our half eaten meals I asked if we would a discount as we had to sit and eat cold dinner and the waitress said no he won’t do that I’m afraid. Unbelievable really bad service Giles, (Sorry Charlotte but it really wasn’t good service at all 😡😡😡) we left with the other couple arguing with the poor waitress about their cold dinner ! Giles, I have just read you read your reply to my review, I just want to say we were not rude we just asked when we paid if we would get a discount as we had to eat a cold dinner. So we never as you so rudely said (Threw our toys out the pram) Also we never had our dinner for 10 minutes we told the waitress as soon as we took the first mouthful. The sweed was not just warm it was very cold like you had not heated at all we weren’t just being fussy. You did re heated that but as soon as we tried the meat that was also cold and you refused to re heat it so you never rectified the problem as you have said. There was a lady and her daughter sat on the next table to us had the same issue. Who ended up arguing with your waitress this was not us so I think you have your wires crossed. You can ask your waitress if you do not beleive what we are saying. We certainly never caused a seen as you say. That was the other couple.who was still arguing as we left. We asked to see you as we were going to say that we didn’t mind if you popped it it in the microwave but we were told you were too busy to come out. We paid and left and I can assure you we never upset any of you other customers. You’re not telling the truth because as you know we were not the only ones who had this issue This...

Absolutely shocking experience at The Bluebell in Emsworth – what a disaster! We booked a table online for a 6:30pm dinner. By 6:40pm we were told to "bear with them as they were busy." Fair enough at first — but things quickly went downhill. The table behind us had already waited 15 minutes just for drinks. The table next to us ended up having to go up and order their own. When we finally managed to order (basic pub food — scampi, burger, garlic bread, coleslaw, glass of wine and a Guinness), no one asked about allergies or dietary needs. If they had, I would have said I needed to take painkillers with food by 7:45pm. I assumed food would arrive well before then. We moved tables and continued to wait… and wait… We watched multiple tables around us — including ones who arrived after us — be served their food while we were completely ignored. Some were clearly locals or regulars at the bar. At 7:40pm, I asked again and was told, “It won’t be long.” Still no food. At 7:50pm I went up again and explained it was now urgent because of my medication. The staff member didn’t care in the slightest — just said “It’s a bank holiday,” as if that excused everything. We are locals ourselves, new to the area, and we booked properly and were polite throughout. We were more than willing to wait — but 90 minutes for pub food is absolutely unacceptable. We were happy to pay for our first round of drinks, but not the second — thankfully, those were refunded. Still, the entire experience was a complete letdown and deeply frustrating. Won’t be returning. Would’ve had a better meal and much better service at JJ’s or The...

I'd booked the last room in March ready for a bucketlist trip to Goodwood Festival of Speed in July for my husband's 50tg. We were greeted by lovely, friendly staff and shown to a beautiful room which gave a view of the quay. The room was clean and well catered, even with extra little touches such as ear plugs due to the busy pub below. It also has a large ensuite bathroom and due to the heatwave they had even supplied a fan. After a long 6 hour journey we both wanted to freshen up but there was no water pressure, a bit like caravan holidays of old. So we decided to go for a walk and head downstairs to the pub and have dinner believing we'd be able to shower afterwards. This wasn't to be. If we flushed the toilet there was no water to the taps let alone the shower. We were able to shower the next day but very quickly in case it stopped again. We never said anything to the staff as they were busy serving in the pub, plus at 9pm at night we weren't waiting for a plumber (I'm a plumbers daughter) to come when we had an early start the next morning. We also couldn't move rooms as we could hear they were occupied. I did email the owner and sent videos but he believed the pressure to be okay but he did graciously say sorry. Sadly I won't chance another stay when we return to Goodwood. Should this happen to you, do complain on the day as that was our downfall,...
