Grill thirteen — Restaurant in High Peak

Where do I start ! First walked in and it stunk of cannabis don't know if it was a customer or the place itself. Made my order after 40 minutes I seen the young lass behind the counter spot me and ran off with a load of past orders. 5 minutes laters she says to me your order will be a few minutes. I asked did you forget my order? She replied we had a big order made half of your food and forgot the other half. So you forgot it. Then 10 minutes later asked me how much did you spend? So I told her. Then came back a little time after and asked me what I actually ordered so I told her! Then finally brought my food out never apologized never offered anything a peace offering. Waiting over an hour and to be honest the food wasn't good at all and really greasy and burnt. We are humans we make mistakes! But to outright lie to my face then ask me on three occasions to try and find out my order out. If you mess up put your hands up I can accept that but don't lie to me ! Won't ever touch this place again just a load of disrespectful people and greasy food avoid...

An ELITE burger! The 'Cocky Pig' is a top tier burger. It smacked my tongue with multiple amazing flavours in every bite. Delicious pulled pork piled atop 2 perfectly grilled smashed patties, refreshing coleslaw and a thick helping of bacon jam which had a lovely smoky taste. All crowned with a chunky coated chicken breast to make for a proper mouthful! The hefty sweet bun just about contained the meat but also soaked up all the escaping juices well too. All that was lacking to keep this burger off the top of my list was a few gherkins (which I meant to have requested) and a real fried piece of chicken rather than a breaded one. The chorizo also got a bit lost in the pile but crept into the flavours now and then. I also had the garlic parmesan potato waffles which were superb as well. It was chocker from the minute they opened which says a lot for the quality. The guy taking orders was great and the staff ran the place like a well...

DISAPPOINTING 😕 We like to support local businesses so thought it was about time we tried Grill 13. Unfortunately, there were a couple of issues which mean we won’t be going again.

Firstly, some extra sauce we ordered turned out not to be in the bag, which isn’t the end of the world, but if I’ve paid extra for it I expect it to be there…!

Secondly, we ordered a couple of burgers with cheese but there was so little cheese on them that we were both in the amusing position of looking at them and saying “is that cheese…?” “I don’t know, it might be…?” 😀

Lastly, the fries were quite undercooked, which was disappointing as the Cajun flavouring was quite nice.

On the plus side, the actual meat of the burger was quite nice (although the burger was very thin)

Maybe they were just having an off night, but we can definitely get a much better takeaway elsewhere locally, so won’t be...
