What a shambles is all I can say about this morning’s breakfast service. I booked a table for 10.30am arrived and got seated in our reserved seats, it was busy. The waitress asked what drinks we would like and we ordered. Drinks took around 15mins to arrive, during this time we ordered our breakfast. Meanwhile we got asked to move tables as they had placed us on the wrong seats. Our breakfast didn’t arrive for a further 45mins. There was an elderly couple sat behind us waiting patiently. I called the lady over in the blue outfit (the boss)? And informed her that we had been waiting for quite sometime, but I was more concerned that the elderly couple hadn’t been served. She in formed me that they were waiting for drinks and seemed disinterested. The service was chaotic and everyone was waiting for at least 45-60mins for their food. When the food finally arrived, it was lovely and we enjoyed it. The waitress who was serving us was very apologetic and I felt for her as she was having to apologise to everyone. She said they were short staffed and gave us our drinks on the house. The lady in the blue trouser suit, didn’t have a clue what was going on, just seemed to be walking around doing nothing. I asked her a question at the end of our service and she looked straight through me and then asked if I was talking to her? The elderly couple behind me, waited around 45mins and finally got their food. I understand that short staffing can cause issues, but surely you would reduce table covers and inform walk ins of their wait and prioritise bookings and our elderly generation. I was looking forward to trying this cafe as it had been recommended, it has a very modern and classy feel , looks immaculately clean and the team were very friendly. The only downside was the long wait , in the end I asked why the food was taking so long as people were coming in and getting food before we did. It was explained they were dealing with telephone orders, it was explained to me that it took a long time to make my pie as it was fresh ,We were waiting for pie chips and mushy peas (which was excellent when it did eventually arrive) It would have been good if they had explained there was a 30 minute wait for the pie. Held my 80th birthday afternoon tea for my friends today at Cafe William. We were all so impressed with the 3 tier tea, good quality food, freshly prepared, lots of it and boxes provided to take what we couldn’t eat. The staff were great, so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely, relaxed, warm, friendly. I love the way the cafe turns into a bistro/bar as the afternoon turns into evening. Will definitely be going again, I have already sampled lunch there, prices so reasonable and I love the sharing menu. Saturday is all day breakfast, will definitely be sampling that.
