TLDR: Fair portions for a standard price, but completely bland and lacking in any flavour for the most part. Poor service and a tacky atmosphere means I won't be back again.
We decided to take advantage of the ÂŁ13pp Sunday offer. Walking in, there seemed to be an aura of confusion, with the staff inattentive from the outset and no one to greet us at the door. Eventually, we were seated at possibly the worst table in the restaurant - with the loud music ruining any possible conversation for most of the night. Our initial drink orders for ice water were taken, and served in pint Strongbow glasses - something you'd come to expect of a pub, not a restaurant. Nonetheless, the server was friendly from the outset.
Initially, the choice of chutneys with the poppadoms was perfect. For starters, we ordered the Seekh Kebab and a meat samosa. Whilst Seekh kebab was flavoursome and enjoyable, the meat samosa lacked flavour, and the filling had a dry and crumbly texture.
For mains, we had the Nach Naga and a Chicken Tikka Nashadar. Whilst the Chicken Tikka inside the Nashadar was succulent and tasty, the sauce was relatively underwhelming in terms of flavour. The Nach Naga, on the other hand, was poor from start to finish. The chicken itself was bland and unimpressive, whilst the bath of sauce - whilst spicy - lacked any kind of flavour and was utterly disappointing. This was a continued theme with the Pilau rice and the Keema Naan - with the Pilau rice completely devoid of any unique flavour, and the Keema Naan a soggy, flavourless, Keema-less mess (eerily reminiscent of the earlier Meat Samosa).
Throughout our evening here, no effort by any member of staff was made to ensure everything was up to satisfactory levels. Not once was the quality of our food confirmed, and we were completely ignored when leaving the restaurant. Another addition to a completely unsatisfactory dinner.
Overall, this is not a restaurant I can see myself returning to anywhere in the near future. The food was below par, and the service was inattentive - with an...
Read moreOn our recent culinary adventure, we had the pleasure of experiencing Kahaani's exquisite takeaway offerings: Lamb Pepri, Nach Naga, and Biryani. Each dish was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to authentic, flavourful Indian cuisine, and the exceptional service only heightened our enjoyment.
Lamb Pepri: This dish was a true revelation. The lamb was tender, perfectly complemented by the robust roasted black pepper and the special Indian chilli, which together created a delectably hot and flavoursome sauce. Paired with the chilli naan bread, the Pepri was a delightful balance of spice and flavour, providing a rich, satisfying heat that lingered pleasantly.
Nach Naga: The Nach Naga was a sensory delight, featuring the renowned Bengal hot pepper. This dish had a captivating aroma that immediately intrigued the senses. The chicken was succulent, infused with the tantalising heat of the Naga pepper. Each bite was a burst of vibrant flavour, a true fiesta in my mouth. The dish masterfully balanced heat and taste, making it a standout experience.
Biryani: The Biryani, chosen for our little one, was a resounding success. Its aromatic rice and tender pieces of meat made it an irresistible choice. Our child loved it so much that he kept coming back for more, and I must admit, I too found myself indulging in its deliciousness. The Biryani was perfectly seasoned, a harmonious blend of spices that made it a comforting yet sophisticated dish.
In summary, Kahaani delivered an extraordinary takeaway experience. Each dish was meticulously prepared, showcasing a deep understanding of spices and flavours. The impeccable service further elevated our dining experience, making Kahaani a top choice for anyone seeking authentic Indian cuisine. Highly recommended for both food enthusiasts and...
Read moreI read all the good reviews first, and believe me wow! When I say everything was perfect I mean perfect! I knew exactly where the reviews had come from when I walked in, beautiful place, staff that couldn't do anymore for you (p.s the owner is honestly a lovely human being I met him) and the smell was literally making me salvate; I ordered a few items a couple of mixed kebab rolls, mixed meat curry, rice, chips, and starters and drinks! Please ensure that the hype is real this is definitely my new local curry house and take away anytime I'm hungry for it! Literally blown away at the time the food came, the quality, the service and not to mention the value for what you receive which is lots of fine cuisine in abundance! I'm not one to tip usually but I had to! 10/10 all way around I could not find any faults and trust me I look 𤣠I'm a huge foodie and ex chef in an Indian restaurant, it doesn't get better than this place! Thank you, truly made my night! Can't wait...
