Halberd Inn — Restaurant in Ipswich

Visited Ipswich for a football match and this was a nice looking pub we'd identified as being away from the crowds early doors where a half dozen 40/50 year old could have a quiet pint or two.

Unfortunately, arriving at 11.15am, we were greeted by a surly and unhelpful bouncer who refused us admission as we were away fans.

A real shame as the pub looked empty and given how many pubs are struggling these days you'd think they'd welcome the business.

Never mind, we went elsewhere and found much more welcoming pubs where we spent our monies and had pleasant pre and post match beers and conversations with much friendlier locals. Not all football fans are...

I went in mcgintys to have a drink and watch football which was cool. But after noticing that the machines in there swllow your winnings and the arrogant fat landlord think he is the man and doesn't give your money back he stands there arguing and threatening to call the police for stealing your money lol.
