Cock and Pye — Restaurant in Ipswich

Sorry...but when I use to use this pub a few a few years ago, when I lived and worked in Ipswich, I enjoyed the place and good good on offer. I popped today,and how disappointing I was. I appreciate that any Public House has to make a profit, but it needs to entice the customer's with a healthy and clean environment, especially when food is served. The tables, sticky, the ambience none exsisting...everything looked worse for wear. Toilet doors did not lock, needed maintenance, and a good clean too. Menu's looked old and yellow , everything needs updating, decorating and staff taught how to acknowledge customers. Came for a group meal last night, and it will be the last, went to bar, and girl wouldn't fine the gin that was on the app.. when she did it was empty and had no more, ordered food, when it came out, the lady said "I don't know what this is?" Then came out with the other food, and we had left 5 of the dishes in the kitchen, as she thought our was the order over, I'd got to bar to get cutlery, and was told it's come out with the meal, when she came back (food has been out about 7-10 mins by then) and asked about the cutlery as food was getting cold, I was told, in busy and we only have 2 kitchen staff. ... sorry, if your bring food out, you need cutlery to eat while it hot. She can back and dumped on the table!! Not enough napkins...

I come in here a lot recently after walking past it countless times, it’s a great spot that can easily be missed due to the location but seriously worth going in. I go during the day when it’s more of a restaurant/pub feel, but I know in the late evening it is quite lively with more of a bar/club vibe especially on weekends. It’s a Greene king pub and the menu isn’t massive but it’s got a lot of good dishes on offer. I go for the small plates as it’s great value and the options are expansive.
