Very disappointed to say the least. We were travellers from Canada. We were recommended to your establishment by our Nanaās care worker.
We had been in twice. First time was with locals we dined on the patio and we had prompt great service and great food. On a £27 order we tipped £8 even paid in cash as the sign said greatly appreciated. We had great interactions with the workers who thanked us a lot for coming and for the compliments.
Flash forward 2 days and we decide to go without locals. We decided to sit inside as it was rainy and chilly. We were sat immediately at a massive table for just 2 people. The server didnāt even ask us if we wanted anything to drink to start, just slapped menus down and walked away. In the 15 minutes that we were there we literally watched the servers clean off 5 tables, serve coffees and cappuccinos to 3 other tables then proceeded to stand at the front behind the counter chatting with each other.
Into the 15th minute we decided to get up and walk out. There were 3 workers standing behind the counter all staring at us as we walked past them. They didnāt even ask us if we needed anything or if there was a reason we were leaving. The one girl even served us 2 days before so she knows we loved the food there.
Like I said very disappointing service...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting this particular Pickled Duck café, and I must say that we were pleasantly impressed!
We really like The Pickled Duck at Shipquay Place, so we were surprised to happen across this new location while looking for somewhere to eat a late lunch.
First impressions were really good -- the lady serving us was happy, bright, chatty, and made us laugh as she chased a pigeon away from our table. She was knowledgeable about the menu, and recommended the Asian Salad as a side, which was lovely.
We chose to sit outside under the shelter despite the cold and rainy weather. There were soft warm blankets draped over every chair for customers to use, so we were very cosy as we looked out over the Foyle and listened to the rain, wrapped up and contented.
The food came quickly, and we were both incredibly happy with the quality, taste, and service. We polished off our meals in no time, and then sat back to soak up the atmosphere while I finished my pot of tea.
The bathroom was very clean, the bin wasn't overflowing with handtowels, and there was plenty of soap.
Honestly can't wait to be back and see what else they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe used to come here very often for the delicious soup combo and the burgers and we always complimented the chefs through the opening in the kitchen. I always got the wrap bread rather than the loaf but I wasn't allowed recently, I was forced to pay the full wrap price if I wanted a combo. Quite a lot extra so I stuck with the wheaten bread. The last three times we have been here in the last month the food has been very bland. The soup, potato and leek should have been very flavoursome but it was terrible, cheap wheaten bread also. My son's fry up was very bland also, he didn't eat a lot of it, my soup was untouched. Noone checked on us at all, waiter and waitress totally uninterested. Such a shame we won't be returning as I really loved our lunches there. They must've changed the chef. One soup, one fry, two waters and a coffee almost 40Ā£. My son got an extra two sausages as his full Irish only had one..how much is two extra sausages !?And no taste to anything. Money is too precious these days to throw...
