Been today at 4pm as our last visit a couple of weeks ago was really enjoyable with good food and friendly staff. Still friendly staff but the carvery was really poor. Ā£9.69 for a small slice of dry turkey, a part slice of beef that was 2/3 fat and the end of the gammon joint that was 7/8 fat. I was advised they had plenty of meat in the kitchen but this was to be used up first. Take away the fat and it would almost have been a plant based carvery! The veg choice included sloppy lumpy mash which the chap before me in the queue thought was Smash as it splattered on his plate, the remnants of the roast potatoes, so in other words the ones others didnāt want and the dried out bits of the dauphinoise potatoes baked onto the ovenware dish. The usual beautiful tasty gravy was a thick, tasteless gloopy mess. In fairness, after I raised my concerns to the lack and poor quality of the meat, the manager offered to replace it. I refused as to be totally honest, I shouldnāt need to complain to get an edible meal, the standard of the quality and the quantity should be as consistent as a joint of meat can be. I was also offered a free drink or dessert but didnāt feel comfortable walking around the restaurant looking for the manager to request a freebie. As there are pubs/restaurants within a few hundred yards of the Bobbin Carrier offering a carvery at a similar price I will probably try them in future, I now understand why the one we drove past at the top of the hill...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a special voucher giving my 30% off my food bill as I have never been to this place before, to be honest I was surprised how close it is to me so we thought we would give it a try. The parking was great and we were really looking forward to a birthday meal. On entering it looked great and there was two young ladies behind the counter. We waited at the bar for a while however I was not approached at all and couldnt understand why not as both of the ladies didnt appear to be that busy. We were not offered a menu or approached to buy drinks. We did have a look at the menu which we got ourselves but still not approached by anyone. I couldnt believe this so we ended up putting down the menus and walking out. To be honest I cannot rate the food, but the customer service was bad enough to make us feel unwelcomed especially on a birthday meal. We ended up going across the road to another pub, and were greeted straight away by a friendly girl who showed us straight to a table and took our drinks order. Such a shame though as we wasted a voucher at this pub. Just a tip ... Please acknowledge future customers and make them feel special, its the little touches that make all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in today (Sunday) looking for some pub grub, heard lots of great things about the place so was excited to try. Walked in and instead of a friendly greeting and seating we were told to walk around the corner to grab our own kids menus. After seating we looked through the menu and ordered. The lady on the till was lovely, a couple orders had adjustments (no sauce/salad) and this didnāt seem to be an issue, Ā£60 later the order was placed. Food came out very quick, the lady bringing them practically threw the plates at us, the nacho sharer with extra pulled pork was lovely but definitely not worth the Ā£13-14 pound, the hunters chicken was dry and had very little barbecue, the ultimate southern fried burger had to be sent back as we requested it with no bbq and it was covered in it, when it came back out it was dry, dense and flavourless with very minimal bacon for the price. The young one had little complaints with his meal, the chicken wings were good and the cheeseburger came out plain like we asked it although did look tough. Didnāt even bother with deserts and went to the Greggs across the road, cheaper...
