Great taste - but very small amount of food My friends treated me to a birthday dinner at Eastern Spice It’s a place I’ve been to many times when I lived in Cleckheaton. It used to be a busy thriving place - and you had to book in advance My friend joked when we arrived as she’d booked a table but we were the only ones dining The server was pleasant When the food arrived it was smaller than a starter portion I had chicken and spinach masala (4 small pieces of chicken) : Dave had chicken masala and Elaine had chicken korma Coffee and water Not sure how much the bill was as I didn’t pay but the menu showed masala at £7:40 The chips seen on the photo we’re served with the korma. The plate the chips are on was the size of a side plate. The curries came in metal bowls that were approx 5 inches in diameter and an inch deep and only half filled When we had finished Elaine went home to cook some tea as we were all very hungry - the serving size didn’t hit the spot ! We arrived at 5:45 and left at 8:15 and were the only diners !! So different from the bustling days from years ago. Maybe it’s empty as the food servings are not value for money ?

Really lovely food, not oily at all, well cooked and full of flavour. Naan bread was excellent, as was the aloo gobi and the Vegetable Karahi was outstanding. Good sized portions (my subjective view only) and good service. Bring your own alcohol (there's an off licence 200m away on the same side of the road). Only slight annoyance on the night I visited was the noise from the kitchen/behind the scenes - it sounded like an industrial vacuum cleaner was being used! Would I return? Absolutely, highly recommended.

Quite surprised really very busy Saturday night with three large tables of 10 or more on each plus smaller parties great atmosphere the food was good very warm served on hot plates which is what we like we had fish pakora and onion bhaji to start portion on the small side but enjoyable followed by chicken masala and karahi murgh lemon rice and yes 3 chapati each no extra cost portion could have been better very tasty prices very reasonable

We came here on the 23rd of January 2023. I will start off with the positive elements to this restaurant. The first thing is that the starters are fantastic value for money and full of amazing flavour. I got the mixed starter and I must say I was very very impressed at the amount that you got for your money. I would say it’s definitely well worth getting the starters as they were first class. The staff were extremely friendly, kind helpful and polite and were really helpful and welcoming. Now on to the negatives. Sadly the curries lacked any herbs or spices. It was quite bland indeed. Also there was not much meat in the dishes at all. The meat that you did get where very tiny little cubes of meat which is really really disappointing. The curries definitely need to be revamped, but not only that you need to get much bigger portions for your money. If I hadn’t of got rice with mine, I would’ve been extremely disappointed Because you needed this as the amount of source was far too much. The other negative is sadly you cannot hear what the people who are serving you are saying, and it is very hard to hold a conversation in this restaurant because they have an extremely loud extractor fan, so when your food came, there was a lot of confusion as to what they were saying to you and a couple of times we had to swap dishes around because we thought we didn’t have the right ones. Having said that I have given this restaurant the best rating I could Because I think the main causes did let it down a lot, like I say there is a lot of sources and very little meat indeed. Also I would say the dips that you’ve got with your Poppadoms was very...

Unfortunately first visit and the last We ordered fish pakora batter very thick fish tasteless .

Our curry we ordered one tasted like gravy granules . I complained politely I was given another curry but couldn’t eat it It was far to hot . So I didn’t get a full meal disappointing

But we probably would have gone back give them another chance But the man that came to see what was wrong Didn’t apologise wasn’t at all interested That I was disappointed in my meal I did ask my husband His opinion of my curry he totally.agreed with me I don’t normally Mention the toilets in a restaurant but the ladies toilets were unclean the toilet bowl itself definitely needed bleach down it it was very dirty No soap to wash my hands with

And the gents had no soap also to use ?? So all and all we were very disappointed with this restaurant.

We paid and left no apology was offered, in fact the man was quite arrogant,he obviously wasn’t happy that we hadn’t enjoyed our meal, if I was to give any advice I would say that asking a customer exactly what the problem was ,and then asking what they would likeinstead of the disappointing meal . A great lack of communication was definitely apparent

If there was anything nice to say about the restaurant then I would say the waiter was very pleasant and polite and helpful and maybe other staff members could take a leaf...
