First time dining in last night after having many take out meals which to be honest have always been nice. We was in a a group so was seated near the bar which is also near the exit. Every time someone left it was absolutely freezing so spent most of the night with my coat on. The noise level is quite loud but the restaurant was only half full so can imagine if it was at full capacity it would get significantly louder.
After been sat down over 10 minutes we had to flag a waitress down to ask for drinks which then when the drinks arrived the order was mixed up and some forgotten. Then we had to flag a waitress down again after another 15 minutes to try order our starters. You definitely donāt get service with a smile. The lady who was serving us had a face of thunder and looked like sheād had enough of life . Food came out relatively quick but once again food was wrong and had to be sent back so some of the table had finished a lot earlier than others. I would suggest if you order a garlic bread .. donāt unless you love extreme levels of garlic. I could only eat one slice as the garlic was so overpowering.
We never saw the waitress again for drinks and ended up just going to the bar ourselves, the man serving behind the bar was lovely though, only person in the place who cracked a smile š.
Mains arrived and in all honesty mine was lovely but some of the others said they had eaten better. some of us also ended up with wrong order as when they brought the calzones out they didnāt differentiate which was which so some had started eating before realising but we sorted that ourselves.
Then came the time for the bill⦠In really small writing at the bottom they add 10% optional service charge which we didnāt notice till we got home as we just equally split the bill between us. We always tip when we eat out but as we didnāt see it as itās squeezed in between 2 totals, you think itās Vat added on, so we tipped again and the server never said anything to us so ended up with quite a substantial tip. I would of happily paid if the service had been great but having to flag someone down to take your order which then comes out wrong repeatedly and in the end you have to go to the bar yourself is not great service . Iām not sure Iād go again to eat in, the food itself was just okay and the service definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCapri in Mirfield aspires to offer a high-end dining experience, but unfortunately, the execution did not live up to the promise. Despite its elegant presentation, our visit was marked by a series of missteps that undermined the restaurantās premium positioning.
From the outset, the absence of a host left the welcome experience feeling flat and disorganised. For a venue of Capriās reputation, the lack of front-of-house attentiveness was surprising. While we opted to order drinks at the bar to simplify billing for our large party, no alternatives were offeredānor was there any sense of genuine hospitality throughout.
Service was consistently underwhelming. Staff appeared disinterested, lacked basic menu knowledgeāunable, for instance, to identify the soup of the dayāand made several concerning oversights, including placing hot dishes within armās reach of infants. These lapses suggested not only poor training, but a worrying lack of care.
The food itself was equally inconsistent. A garlic pizza bread starter showed promise, but the mains disappointed. The lasagna, though generous in portion, was overwhelmingly salty and imbalancedādominated by meat and sorely lacking bĆ©chamel. A margherita pizza, a staple of any Italian menu, arrived under-seasoned and lacking character. Even the most modest dishes, when treated with care, can elevate a menuābut here, they failed to rise above the ordinary.
The overall ambiance did little to offset the experience. On what should have been a lively bank holiday evening, the dining room felt quiet and soulless, compounding the sense that Capri is more invested in appearance than atmosphere or experience.
In summary, Capri has the setting and presentation of a premium establishment, but not the service, consistency, or culinary refinement to match. With greater attention to staff training, menu execution, and guest engagement, it could begin to realise...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStumbled across this gorgeous eatery one crazy afternoon and Oh My Days!!!!!!! I cannot tell you in words how delicious the food was. The lunchtime āsetā menu was a steal at Ā£16.95 for two courses (Ā£19.95 for 3) because the food was amazing. My friend and I ordered the baked goats cheese and garlic mushrooms to start then the Mediterranean tart and penne arrabiata for our mains and we had tea and coffee and shared a tiramisu. (Bill totalled around Ā£35). The goats cheese was baked to perfection, the garlic mushrooms (and bread) were creamy and garlicky (love garlic) arrabiata was loaded with a rich tomato sauce and had the perfect amount of chilli and med tart was a crispy (maize) pastry shell filled with chargrilled/baked seasonal veg. To. Die. For. And tiramisu?????? Melt in your mouth, perfect amount of coffee and completely delicious.
The chicken is halal too which is a big bonus for Muslim diners.
You seriously have to go check this place out, you will not be disappointed. My only regret is that I was too busy eating that I forgot to take pictures of the beautiful presentation! Oh well Iāll just have to go back again š¤£š¬.
I must also mention that the staff were exceptionally attentive and totally amazing. Polite, kind, courteous and just all round amazing. Please stay this way, it sets you guys above the rest ā„ļø.
