I love the old Lancashire and Yorkshire towns so ventured out to Slaithwaite. Iâd read reviews of Om Is Where the Heart Is so decided to brunch there.
The place was busy with a warm atmosphere and I was immediately greeted by the manager. Smiles, eye contact, professional, welcoming and immediately engaging.
I had to wait for 5mins for a table to become available. Once the previous patrons vacated the table was spritzed and sprayed and thoroughly cleaned before I was invited to sit there.
I ordered a flat white whilst perusing the menu. OIWTHI has a varied menu. Yes there are the usual staples but also various imaginative offerings too.
My coffee arrived and I was ready to order. My server was a young lady called Grace. Again that excellent engaging & confident customer service. Smiles, chat and a cracking sense of humour. Grace taught me how to pronounce âSlaithwaite â correctly. âSlawitâapparently. She suggested an accompanying side of avocado . Who can resist a little bit of up selling? Good on ya Grace
The food arrived. Yes I went for a âstapleâ as I didnât have my adventurous head on. Eggs Benny. The tastiest bacon, eggs cooked to perfection and the sauces fresh, homemade and delicious. I did not leave as much as a skerrick on the plate.
I asked the manager for the bill and got into another chat. I mentioned the excellent service that Grace had offered and I said, âSheâs goodâ. The manager then informed me that today is Graceâs FIRST DAY!! Wow! You would have never have guessed. Sheâs a natural. Kudos to you Grace. Keep on doing what youâre doing
I have to say that the whole team were full of smiles and genuinely engaged in their roles and just couldnât do enough for you.
I had a lovely experience here and look forward to my next sojourn to âSlawitâ
Thank you all for making...

Your manager did NOT give us the option of us having the ÂŁ60 refunded back onto our card. If she had, don't you think we would have taken it? (in case that's a tough question for you, we 100% would have taken it). She did NOT ask us numerous times if we're 'okay with that'. It WAS raining that day, I can even show the photos of us out walking and being wet if you so very much would like. A dog CAN fit under the table. Hippie/hipster - let's not reduce this to semantics đ big love.
AVOID (unless you like being spoken to like a mug).
Their 'brand' and ethos has zero resemblance to their customer service experience. Completely understand what other customers have lamented about the cancellation policy. We booked table of 6 just for lunch. They wanted a ÂŁ10 deposit PER PERSON! Let's be straight - high end, booming restaurant this is not! Why they require this is laughable. Anyways, went ahead with this charade. Turned up with a dog. Not unusual, after all, it's a top hiking area, this is supposed to be a hippy, laid back cafe, and ya know, we're in the 21st century. Anyhoo, snotty little girl with customer service training needs said in no fewer words: can't allow dogs in and we'll be charging your card the ÂŁ60 deposit if you leave....whaaaaaat?! No show of understanding or sheer embarrassment from the slyness of trying to steal our money. So, we were forced to sit in the rain outside lest we lose our ÂŁ60 deposit... For lunch... In Slaithwaite. The food wasn't even worth it đ in 2021 with such competition in the hospitality sector, ensuring the customer has a good experience costs nothing but means...
Read moreMmmmm, been here a few times now. It's still great but not as good. Service is impeccable and lovely and friendly as always. Great variety on drink options than the 'norm'. This time I had the Croque madame on the Specials board which was very tasty and discovered later very salty but I had a fight with the sourdough, bit too crusty this time. If only they would have other bread options I was thinking..... And also everything is a bit eggy. I love eggs but..... My daughter couldn't choose anything because she's a bit fussy anyway but went with the club sandwich, not a great choice when she has a full set of braces!! Mum loved the Caesar salad though and they were very accommodating when she wanted to take the bacon and croutons out!!!! My feedback was taken appreciatively about the bread Come on Om different bread options or more meals without bread!!! I'll be back...
