Rumpus Burger - Slaithwaite — Restaurant in Kirklees

Very small but very smartly decorated restaurant (Definitely recommend booking as I imagine it's full at peak meal times!)

The burger was very good. Menu says 6oz but it felt bigger to me! The texture of the meat was amazing, perfectly grilled, still some pink in the middle which I had hoped for, and was amazingly soft and melted in my mouth. It would have been one of the best burgers I've had if it had been seasoned more. Although the look and texture was perfect, there just wasn't as much taste as I'd hoped for (wasn't much of a flavour to the meat). But there is potential for this to be an amazing burger!

The burgers come with fries (included in the price), and I wasn't expecting much after seeing pictures in other reviews. But I have now learnt not to judge fries by their looks! The fries were really really good. Lovely and crispy on the outside and really fluffy inside. And a good portion! I wouldn't normally eat all the fries as well as a burger, but I couldn't stop eating the fries and ended up finished them all!

The service was also very efficient and professional, and the prices were perfect for the quality and amount of food.

We will definitely come back here again, and I would highly...

Booked a table for lunch on Sunday 31st August 2025.

We were really looking forward to visiting the new restaurant as we had eaten at the previous location before.

We were showed to our table which seemed to be smack bang in the middle of restaurant and in the middle of where diners and customers walk. It didn’t feel comfortable. They also had the back door open with a strong breeze hitting us.

When we asked to move the waiter told us they had a lot of large parties coming soon and it wouldn’t be possible. The restaurant wasn’t busy and the supposed impending guests didn’t arrive the whole time we were there!

Once the food arrived, the burgers were great as usual. I ordered Cajun fries but they were hugely over seasoned, absolutely smothered in spice. We informed the waiter, who agreed & apologised. He took them away and then returned with what appeared to be the same fries with the Cajun dusting just brushed off!!

Not great!

We paid in full and left. Unfortunately based on this visit we won’t be returning which is shame as we loved...

In response to the restaurant. Im not looking for compensation! My comment about the atmosphere is because my two kids and I entered into a door of a very busy place and realised I was stood over a hot plate and lots of customers food. I had to usher my kids back outside to stand on the street to get our food. The guy serving was a little rude to my daughter who misheard the price, so yes I felt like it wasn't a welcoming environment.

I didn't ask for a refund, I just shared a picture of a clearly raw burger. My son didn't eat it and I felt at such a high price, you should do better.

The chicken burger was tough and dry/overcooked. Maybe they are sat before being served but it was definitely tough. I've read through some other comments and it appears that I'm not the only one.

Beef burgers we're raw. One more than the other but so much so that it went in the bin. The chicken burger was OK but a little tough and salty. Overall I expected much more based on reviews and that it cost 42.50...
