Was super disappointed on a recent visit. I had my son and his family from London up for a visit and we popped in for lunch. In spite of there being no sign outside saying dogs weren't allowed, an extraordinarily rude woman in uniform strode across and jumped on my daughter-in-law who was stood at the front ordering with her very tiny Italian greyhound and shouted at her that dogs weren't allowed inside. It was incredibly rude and really put us off. The food was fine if unexceptional and the server who brought it to us outside was pleasant enough but I will not be returning. We were planning to sit outside anyway and there was absolutely no need for such rudeness. Seems a bit bizarre that a relatively informal cafe with lots of dog walkers passing by and stopping in for a coffee takes such a stand on allowing dogs anyway but if that's there policy so be it. It's really the uncalled for reaction I have a problem with, behaviour like this is not consisitent with our Yorkshire...
Read moreWe ordered 2 takeaway Courgette and Cheddar soups. We were shocked by the £13.90 price tag for these, they were on the special board but the price wasn’t….I can see why! We hoped when they arrived it would be worth the price, unfortunately we never got to find out. We were directed to wait outside…and wait we did. After 15 minutes of waiting we went inside to enquire when we would expect our order, we were told by a disinterested waitress it was on its way. Another 10 minutes later no soup..:25 minutes in total for 2 takeaway soups. I went inside to enquire again and was told that the soup was currently 40 degrees and they had to wait for them to cool down to 19 degrees. I was told it would be another 5 minutes. No apology. I advised I could not wait and asked for a refund, which I was given. 30 minutes wait for 2 takeaway soups!! I definitely won’t be doing back to this place with the expensive prices, slow service and...
Read moreGreat tasty food. Lovely people. Simple but pure menu. Something different every time.
Consumate meat eaters be warned; No meat(!) (which is fine unless you're after a juicy steak sandwich!) (But what they do is really, really good) (Try eating something tasty that, you know - didn't previously have a heart beat, for a change! You might love it!?)
Have often had to eat elsewhere, unfortunately, as there's very limited seating, considering it's popularity (and considering the huge space dedicated to baking) (More eating space would be good)
Great atmosphere and funky industrial design. (Formerly part of a huge textile mill) stunning location alongside the canal.
Great buseness ethics. Slightly on the expensive side if you're on a limited budget. But - Co-operatively owned by the guys who work there, so don't mind occasionally paying extra for good, clean, local,...
