A visit for my birthday and this place delivered an Afternoon Tea with bells on.
Firstly we arrived earlier than we had planned, having made a long journey. This was absolutely no problem, the table was already set up already and was presented wonderfully. The tea was great and the pot an ample enough size for 2 and a half cups each (if I was being extra picky I'd have liked a Posh Tea Pot to match the aesthetic of the place and the Cups and Stand we were provided. The Afternoon Tea itself was possibly the best I've ever had. 4 Sandwiches (Egg Mayo, Tuna and Cucumber, Ham And Tomato and Cheese and Pickle) which were well filled and with it, a small cup of Carrot and Coriander Soup which was clearly homemade and was possibly the highlight of the entire stand. Some non-traditional Sausages in a Honey Mustard Sauce, which again was absolutely delicious. Then Scones, Clotted Cream and Jam (again Scones home made and the Jam was a really good quality, so much so you couldn't get a small bit out due to the Strawberrys being packed into it). Finally 2 pieces of cake, a Carrot and Lemon Cake and 2 pieces of Tiffin. Again clearly home made and again an absolute delight.
We're not local but if we're ever back in the area, I'd even consider taking a Detour to use the Refreshment Room again I was that impressed by the quality of what they've provided us with today.
Important to note that Afternoon Teas need 24 Hours notice. Get organised and do it, you will...
Read moreMy mum and I visited here for lunch earlier this week. We were greeted by the staff when we entered and we sat ourselves down at a table near the end of the counter. We ordered some hot drinks and had a look through the menu on the table. There is a breakfast menu, a lunch menu and an evening meal menu, all with enough variety to choose from without there being too much choice. My mum ordered the ham, egg and chips and I had the Cumberland whirl with mash. Both meals were generous portions and nice to eat. The meals were brought out in reasonable time. As most places that serve food, the staff checked everything was OK shortly after serving the meals and we had no complaints. The place itself is a lovely place to visit, clean and tidy, a pleasant atmosphere and tastefully decorated. The occasional high speed train did make my mum jump but what can you expect when you're next to the west coast main line and is all part of the experience. Overall, a great place to visit for food or just a brew whilst waiting...
Read moreYou can't come to Carnforth without coming here, not just for the heritage centre, but also for the absolutely 5-star food and service. I had coffee and a jacket potato... both were excellent. In fact the jacket potato, while being a humble dish, was cooked to absolute perfection and accompanied by a fresh and well-dressed salad... without exaggeration the best I've had. Make sure youre hungry, there's plenty of it. All the other dishes I saw looked equally excellent. The lemon and poppy seed cake was to die for. Service was great, and the vibe unique (in a very very good way). Watch the movie before and after 😁👍 Oh, and if you want a beer in a lovely little micro pub, I can definitely recommend the Snug Micropub on the Station... limited opening hours so check, but also lovely friendly local atmosphere, not...
