Have been patronising Costa many times over the 6 months visiting St James every other day. Usually it's spot on. The store managers ability to make lovely coffee is top class. However I called today 25 mins before closing & experienced my £4.10 medium latte be put together with all the grace of a charging buffalo running into black ice. The milk was splashed everywhere fortunately enough hit the jug to warrant steaming. Once seemed hot enough it was almost thrown, not poured, into a cup, coffee added & put on the counter abruptly. Not a good look whether it's 25 mins from closing & it's been a long day, or not. The quality of my drink was okay, not great, but the customer service in this visit was left wanting & far from acceptable. I frequently review when eating & drinking out & most are positive. It's important also to feedback when your experience hasn't come up to expectations so the staff, if they receive it can learn. Read moreCurrently sat in Costa now. It was not a nice feeling being eyeballs by the 3 members of staff, all with faces like smacked behinds. The girl who served me was nice and polite once she talked to me. However, she didnt give me a spoon to use with my granola pot breakfast and didnt give me a tray or napkin, despite knowing I was sitting in with a latte. The girl making the coffees was nice and got me a spoon when I asked for one. The man behind the counters is unnerving and just eyeballed everyone who came in. Made me feel unwelcome and uneasy. I always like to clear my table, or at least leave everything on the tray...but guess what! I wasnt given a tray or napkins, so I am just going to leave the wet dirty stirrers on the table top and if I spill coffee down the cup I'll leave it as is. Might seem minor and petty to some, but I am all for customer service, after many years as a customer assistant (years ago).
